THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK

The paradigm illustrates the concepts through the Input,

Process, and Output scheme.

Block 1: Input- representing the essential questions that will

drive the entire process. These questions serve as the

foundation, guiding the research journey by identifying what

needs to be explored and understood.

enhancing English Literacy Skills among Grade 8 students?

BLOCK 2: PROCESS- outlines the steps involved in assessing the

effectiveness of remediation strategies. This involves


administering a survey and interview questionnaire to gather

data, and analyzing and interpreting the collected

information.

BLOCK 3: OUTPUT- encompasses the outcomes derived from the

conducted survey and the data that has been collected and

analyzed. This section presents the researcher’s evaluated

responses concerning the effectiveness of remediation

strategies.

ASSUMPTIONS OF THE STUDY

The study predicted to know how remediation strategies affect

the English literacy of the Grade 8 students at Patag

Integrated School. Therefore, we assume the following:

 The implemented remediation strategies are effectively

enhancing the literacy skills of the students

 Grade 8 pupils would agree that remediation helps them

improve ability to read, write, speak, and understand

language proficiently.

 Teacher can easily deliver lectures because the students

can understand spoken language, follow instructions, and

comprehend information presented.

 Grade 8 students will excel in English.

HYPOTHESIS

Increased exposure to remediation strategies will lead to

improvement of English literacy skills among Grade 8 students.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study lies in knowing the potential of remediation

strategies to contribute practical implications to the field

of education, specifically in English literacy enhancement


among Grade 8 students. The research will benefit the

following:

1.School- This research benefits schools by improving academic

outcomes, promoting equity and inclusion, enhancing school

reputation, and creates a strong foundation for future

learners.

2.Learners- Learners will be benefited from this research to

enhance their literacy skills as well as their comprehension

skills through Remediation Strategies.

3.Future Researcher- This research can be used as guideline on

making their thesis paper related to this topic.

4.Teacher- This research covers information about the effects

of remediation on the English literacy of the students. Thus,

they will have the knowledge whether to maintain or improve

the remediation strategies as a part of enhancing student’s

English Literacy.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The study was conducted in Patag Integrated School located at

Patag, Irosin, Sorsogon. The focus of the study is to

determine the effectiveness of remediation strategies in

enhancing English literacy skills of Grade 8 students based on

the data gathered by the researchers. The respondents of this


research were the selected students of Grade 8 who undergone

remedial class and 1 teacher of Patag, Integrated, School.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Comprehension- The act of grasping with the mind;

understanding or knowledge that results from this.

Implications- It pertains to the effect or consequences

resulting from a specific action or statement. It involves

discerning the potential outcomes or inferred meaning derived

from a given matter.

Literacy- is usually defined as the ability to read and write,

or the ability to use language to read, write, listen, and

speak.

Remediation- The correction of something bad or defective.
