What is ICT?

ICT stands for Information and Communications Technology. It is a term used to describe the
infrastructure and components that enable modern computing, including devices, networking
components, and applications. ICT encompasses any communication device, including radio, television,
cell phones, computer and network hardware, satellite systems, and more, as well as the various
services and appliances with them such as video conferencing and distance learning. It also includes
analog technology, such as paper communication, and any mode that transmits communication. ICT is
a broad subject and the concepts are evolving. It covers any product that will store, retrieve,
manipulate, transmit, or receive information electronically in a digital form (personal computers
including smartphones, digital television, email, or robots)

ICT is used to refer to the convergence of audiovisuals and telephone networks with computer networks
through a single unified system of cabling (including signal distribution and management) or link
system. The term is generally accepted to mean all devices, networking components, and applications.
ICT is used in various fields, including business, education, medicine, real-world problem-solving, and
leisure activities related to sports, music, and movies. It is also used to refer to the convergence of media
technology such as audio-visual and telephone networks with computer networks, by means of a unified
system of cabling (including signal distribution and management) or link system.
