INTRO:

Do you believe the Bible? Why?

SCRIPTURE :
Knowing the Scriptures is vital to our spiritual growth and maturity. Bible reading grows our
faith and increases our knowledge of God. It deepens intimacy with Him. It gives us wisdom
and understanding. Knowing the Scriptures brings strength and guidance for life.
It’s important to study the Bible because God’s Word guides you in the right direction we take
towards life. It lights the way ahead of you so you can see clearly which way to go. Through
every season of your life, you can be confident that God is always leading you through His
Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psa. 119:105
When God’s Words abide in you, you’ll be able to pray according to His will and have
confidence that God listens to you (1 John 5:14). God delights to answer when you pray and
when you abide in His Word. “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you
wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
The Scriptures become your life-line to a relationship with God. Just like our bodies that need
food to survive, God’s Word nourishes you so you will be spiritually mature in responding to the
challenges of life. (1 Pet. 2:2). But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4.

Studying God’s word strengthens you to say “NO” to sin. As more of the Scriptures are stored
up in your heart, you’ll be strengthened to do the right things in life. “I have stored up your
word in my heart, that I might not sin against you .” Psa. 119:11

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every
good work.” 2 Tim. 3:16-17. The purpose of Bible Study is to bring instruction, conviction,
correction, and training in God’s ways so you can be equipped for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-
17). You can be instructed with teaching from God for wisdom, truth, and everything you need
for life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3)

Studying the Bible gives you a strong conviction about what is true and what is God’s will for
your life (2 Tim. 3:16-17). God’s Word will build you up in your faith so you can stand up against
any storms you encounter in life.

God’s Word corrects you when you’re going the wrong way (2 Tim. 3:16-17). God loves you
enough to correct you and discipline you. Correction can be painful at times, but God does it so
that you can walk in His blessing and not go in a way where you will have to reap the
consequences of your actions.
Knowing the Scripture also helps you fulfill God’s plan for your life (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Regular
Bible Study trains you in God’s ways. The Bible will equip you to fulfill your life’s calling and
your ministry. (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Studying the Bible will equip you to move in God’s wisdom,
love, and power. “I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my
meditation.” Psa. 119:99. In reading the Bible, you’ll receive insight and wisdom to know God
and apply it in the world around you.
