Final Requirement: Narrative Report

My name is Claudine, and you can call me, Audine because that is my nickname.

I'm a tourism student in my first year at Batangas State University. My interests include

almost everything, but my top three are art, books, and classic British films. And all I can

say about myself is that I’m a multipassionate person who loves exploring everything and

wants to do anything, but in a good manner for the pursuit of fulfilling my dreams in life.

I’m a risk-taker and a dreamer because I believe making a decision was only the

beginning of things.

I chose Tourism Management because I enjoy discovering unique places and

learning about diverse cultures, especially the stories or history behind them. Knowing

and seeing a place that I have never been before feels like therapy to me. It heals me

and helps me disconnect from my worries and depression. In the next few years, I believe

that working in the tourism industry will gratify both my soul and my financial status. It

thrills me to be able to accomplish something that my heart truly desires while still

achieving success. And, in my opinion, the Front Office Operations course program will

enhance students' abilities to perform such duties in the sector of front office. My prior

topic, housekeeping operations, gave me a notion of what the meaning of Front Office is.

It's in the same building but in a separate department. My first impression of the front

office is that the front desk's responsibilities include greeting and assisting customers with

their reservations and responding to indirect reservations, such as those made through

email and telephone calls. However, "front office operation" is defined more broadly in the

lecture.

I have learnt that there is still a lot to learn before working in the sector, specifically

in front office operations, after taking the Front Office course. By taking this course, I am

able to reflect on my understandings and practices as well as prepare for the possibility

of becoming a front-office staff member eventually by taking this course. I now have a

better understanding of front-office operations. Good and precise decision making,

improved communication skills, ethics, and problem solving are among the abilities I
learned after attending the course. It improved my decision-making in such a way that I

am no longer completely overwhelmed when people voice their underlying issues. I

should always stay calm and approach them with simple solutions or give them

alternatives to reach their ideals. My communication abilities have also improved as a

result of the course. Given the wide range of consumers with various personalities,

whether friendly or not, I should always show respect. The course has strengthened my

analytical skills, which has helped me solve problems. I can't always pass a complaint on

to another coworker; I have to comprehend the problems on my own and identify

appropriate responses in every situation.

In terms of problems I have encountered, I only had trouble connecting on the first

day of PMS hands-on training due to a power interruption. I attended the first day only

based on the availability of my laptop's battery life and a hotspot connected to my phone

while mobile data is on. On the other hand, I don’t encounter any problems with the Front

office subject.

Now that I know what Front Office is and have received knowledge from the PMS

hands-on training, I can apply what I've learned in my field of specialization by applying

the key competencies I've gained. It comprises my communication and analytical ability

to differentiate effective solutions as well as my good and accurate decision-making that

no longer leaves me completely overwhelmed when people voice their issues. With the

knowledge and skills I've obtained, I'm confident in my ability to handle a variety of

procedures and scenarios in the Front Office Department. And, if I am given the

opportunity to volunteer in the Department, I am willing to do so in order to enhance my

learning experience.
