FACTS OF THE CASE

● On January 18, 2024, Daniel Panahipour’s phone was declared as missing by his mom
thru phone call with Teacher Melanie.
● Teacher Melanie thoroughly inspected the entire classroom, with particular emphasis on
Daniel's desk, in the expectation of locating the misplaced phone. She promptly notified
Daniel's mother that it was not found.
● On January 19, 2024, Teacher Melanie and Daniel's mother had the opportunity to
review the CCTV footage from the day the phone went missing. It was discovered that
Daniel's bag was left unattended in the lobby and no one approached or interacted with
it.

UNDERTAKINGS
● Teacher Miles was apprised of the situation on January 22, 2024, Monday, and
thereafter held a confidential discussion with Daniel's mother. She was granted
authorization to use Family Link to access Mrs. Josa's email in order to locate the phone,
but was unsuccessful in determining its whereabouts.
● In response to the unfortunate incident involving a missing phone, elementary teachers
dedicated thorough efforts to investigate the matter, diligently searching for the device.
Despite their best attempts, the phone could not be located. Recognizing the need for
proactive measures, the teachers have collaboratively devised a comprehensive Visitors
Policy and Procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future, ensuring a safer and
more secure environment for all.
● There is no specific activity assigned for the use of phones during face-to-face classes.
Therefore, “the school hereby emphasizes that it assumes no liability for any loss, theft,
or damage incurred to personal electronic devices brought onto the school campus.
Students are responsible for the security and protection of their own electronic devices
while on school premises."
