AP QUIZ BEE 2023

(Junior High School level)

RATIONALE
BACKGROUND OF THE ACTIVITY (Objectives):
• Test participants' knowledge of agricultural terminology, concepts, and practices.
• To promote awareness of the importance of agriculture in society and the economy.
• To encourage participants to learn more about agriculture and its impact on their lives.
• To provide a fun and competitive environment for participants to demonstrate their
knowledge of agriculture.

ELIMINATION ROUND MECHANICS:


1. The A.P Quiz Bee 2023 is open for all bonafide Junior High School pupils of San Sebastian College
– Recoletos de Cavite from Grade 7 to Grade 10.
2. Registration starts on September 21, 2023 until September October 4, 2023 (5:00PM) via Google
form.

3. Each grade level will conduct the contest independently where the participating students will be
joining individually.
3. The topic covered will be about Agriculture.
4. There will be 20 questions for this round.
5. All registered participants will be held in a group of 4, 1 participant per section.
6. Misspelled and late answers will not be accepted.
7. Proper decorum shall be observed during the contest proper. Any form of deceitful acts, such as
cheating will lead to the disqualification.

- There will be a clincher round in case of a tie. A clincher word will be given until one group
gives the correct answer.

2. All questions will be read only twice by the quizmaster.


3. Each group will write their answers on a clear white board or illustration board. The participants
must write legibly. All contestants must raise their answer board when the time limit is up or when the
buzzer sounds. The participant/s which raises their answer board after the buzzer will not get
any point.
4. Appeals for a specific item must be done as soon as the correct answer is given and before the
quizmaster moves on to the next question. Questions will not be entertained after the quizmaster
reads the next item.

DIGITAL POSTER MAKING 2023

In line with the upcoming AP Week Celebration this school year with the theme “International
Year of Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable Future”. The Grades 7-
10 are invited to join the Digital Poster Making Contest.

MECHANICS
1. Grades 7 – 10 Students are eligible to join.
2. Registration starts on September 21, 2023 until September 25, 2023, .5:00PM
3. For The participants may use Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Paint, and other digital painting
software.
4. All artworks must be pre-numbered. No other identifying marks will be allowed to appear in
the artworks.
5. All artworks must be done only by the participant without any help from other people, and
to be sure, the participant should have a video time lapse of his/her work which will serve as
a documentation.
6. The entries will be submitted via email at myla.sabandal@sscr.edu on or before October 6,
2023, 5:00PM All late entries will not be accepted.

7. The poster must illustrate, interpret, and emphasize the theme of the AP WEEK 2023.
8. There will be 3 winners in this competition; Digital Poster Making Contest Champion, 2nd
placer and 3rd placer.
9. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
10. The contestants will be judged according to the following criteria:

TRADITIONAL POSTER MAKING 2023

In line with the upcoming AP Week Celebration this school year with the theme “International
Year of Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable Future”. The Grades 7, -
10 are invited to join the Traditional Poster Making Contest.

MECHANICS
1. Junior High School – Grade 7-10 students are eligible to join.
2. Registration starts on September 21, 2023 until September 25, 2023.

3. The following materials will be used in the contest:


A. 1/8 Illustration board (white background and vertical format)
B. Coloring materials: oil pastel, crayons, markers, ink, mixed media, oil, acrylic,
and watercolor (to be provided by the contestant)
*use of other materials not specified above is strictly prohibited.
4. All artworks must be pre-numbered. No other identifying marks will be allowed to appear
in the artworks.
5. The output of the artwork must be submitted right after the contest proper on September
27, 2023. All late entries will not be accepted.

ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

In line with the upcoming AP Week Celebration this school year with the theme “International
Year of Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable Future” The Grades 7,-
10 are invited to join the Essay Writing Contest

MECHANICS
1. Junior High School – Grade 7-10 students are eligible to join.

2. Registration starts on September 21, 2023 until September 25, 2023.

3. All essays should be written in Tagalog and shall contain in a minimum of 250 words and
maximum of 300 words

4. The entries will be submitted on the day of contest on September 27, 2023.

All late entries will not be accepted.

5. The poster composition must emphasize the theme of the AP WEEK 2023.
“International Year of Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable
Future” There will be 3 winners in this competition; 1st placer, 2nd placer and 3rd placer.

7. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

INDAK SEBASTINO
A dance for Sustainable Future

• This theme encourages students to use their creativity and passion to raise awareness about
the importance of sustainable agriculture.

In line with the upcoming AP Week Celebration this school year with the theme “International Year
of Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable Future” The Grades 7 - 10 are
invited to join the Indak Sebastino: Contemporary Dance Competition.

MECHANICS
1. Junior High School – Grade 7-10 students are eligible to join.

2. Category (by section)

3. Minimum of 8 students per sections, and a maximum of 15 students.

4. The performance should be relevant to the theme

5. The performance should not exceed more than 8 minutes and at least 6 minutes at length.

6. Audio/s that would be used should be submitted prior the competition.


7. Choreographer from outside is not allowed.

8. There will be 3 winners in this competition; 1st placer, 2nd placer and 3rd placer.

9. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

11. The contestants will be judged according to the following criteria:

AP-NOY HENYO

To celebrate for the upcoming AP Week in this school year with the theme “International Year of
Millets: A Climate-Smart, Nutritious Crop for a Sustainable Future” The Grades 7 - 10 are
invited to join the AP-noy Henyo activity in which students can have fun and be competitive whilst
testing their knowledge.

1. Junior High School – Grade 7-10 students are eligible to join.

2. Registration starts on September 21, 2023 until October 2, 2023 via Google Forms.

3. 2 participants per sections

4. The mechanics of the game.

- Teams must have 2 players. Player One will do the questioning while Player Two should

answer only YES, NO or Can Be. The secret word will be posted at the top of the head of Player

One. The team will be given 2 minutes to get the correct word. No body language is allowed. The

team can be disqualified for this. If Player Two answers with another word other than Yes, No or

Can Be, a 3-seconds penalty shall begiven to the team. The clock stops when Player One answers

correctly the secret word.

- The team should use logical questioning to get the secret word. Questions should start from
the first level and then to the second level until they have all the clues to guess the secret word.
