Problem Statement

Construction Equipment
• A 12 Km long canal is required to be constructed to carry a discharge of
7500 cusecs. The channel is aligned through mountainous topography.
The total quantity of earthwork involved in the excavation is 71,65,000

Management cum. The total period of excavation is 5 years. The soil in the area is
classified as 50 % hard and tough clay and 50 % hard rock. Average lead
for transportation of soil material is 1 Km.
CMT 522 • The project contractor has the following equipment available
Session 11 – Excavation Activity – Equipment & – Hydraulic Excavator- 2 No- 1.91 cum and 2.68 cum
– CAT 621 Bottom dump truck – 30 ton payload capacity- 20.6 m3
Capacity Calculation
– B4TD Rear dump truck- 22 ton payload capacity- 15.3 m3
