Remains of acrylic yarn in the following colors: brown, light-green, dark-green, white, black, red
and mustard.
C hook (2.5 mm), a tapestry needle, stuffing, steel beads and scissors.
Stitches used in the Project:

Double adjustable ring, chain stitch, single crochet, single crochet through back loops only, half
double crochet and double crochet.

Realization
Trunk (Brown color):

The trunk is crocheted in a single piece from top to bottom, starting on the branches and must be
filled with stuffing while you’re crocheting it. Also it is recommended to add some steel beads in
the trunk for weight.
Branch 1:
The branch 1 is formed with 2 pieces: A & B.
Branch 1 – A:
To avoid a hole at the beginning of your project, you need to start it with a double adjustable ring
(loop twice the yarn on your finger and when you finish the round pull the remaining yarn to close
the hole):
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18 stitches).
Rnd 4 to 15: Single crochet in each stitch.
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Branch 1 – B:
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Without cutting the yarn off, join both pieces together by sewing their borders on 5 stitches.
Then continue crocheting around them:

Branch 2:
The branch 2 is formed with 3 pieces: A and 2 Bs.
Branch 2 – A:
Branch 2 - B (Make 2):
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors. Crochet another B piece following the upper
instructions. After you’ve finished crocheting round 8, without cutting the yarn off, join both
B pieces together by sewing their borders on 3 stitches. Then continue crocheting around
them:

Without cutting the yarn off, place piece A centered between both B pieces and join them
together by sewing their borders on 4 stitches. Then continue crocheting around them:
Rnd 5: *13 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* twice
(28 stitches).
Rnd 6: Single crochet in each stitch.
(26 stitches).
(24 stitches).
Rnd 10 & 11: Single crochet in each stitch.
Without cutting the yarn off, join branches 1 and 2 together by sewing their borders on 5
stitches. Then continue crocheting the trunk around them (don’t forget to add some steel
beads into the trunk for weight):
Rne 2 to 4: Single crochet in each stitch.
(44 stitches).
Rnd 8: *9 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 4 times
(40 stitches).
Rnd 29: Single crochet through back loops only performing the following decreases: *6 single
crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 5 times (35 stitches).
(30 stitches).

(25 stitches).
(20 stitches).
(15 stitches).
(10 stitches).
Rnd 35: 5 decreases (2 single crochet closed together 5 times) (5 stitches).
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors. With the tapestry needle sew up and down the yarn
around each stitch from last round and pull tightly to close.

Crown (make 5):
Light-green color:

Rnd 16: Single crochet in each stitch interspersing 1 stitch in light-green color and 1 stitch in
dark-green color.
Continue crocheting all stitches in dark-green color:
(54 stitches).
(48 stitches).
(42 stitches).
(36 stitches).
(30 stitches).
(18 stitches).
(12 stitches).
Make a knot, cut the yarn with scissors and fill them with stuffing. Sew the crowns openings to the
tip of each branch.
Feet (Brown color):

Make 2. The feet are crocheted from front to back and have to be filled with stuffing (lightly, don’t

overstuff) while you’re crocheting them:
(28 stitches).
(26 stitches).
(24 stitches).
(22 stitches).
(20 stitches).
(18 stitches).
(16 stitches).
(14 stitches).
(12 stitches).
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors. Sew the feet beneath the trunk as in the final project

Eyes:
The eyeballs have to be filled with stuffing while you’re crocheting them.
Big eyeball:
White color:
Switch to Brown color:
(18 stitches).
(12 stitches).
Small eyeball:
White color:
(12 stitches).
Big pupil (black color):

Rnd 2: *2 single crochet in each stitch*, repeat from *to* twice, *2 half double crochet in each
stitch*, repeat from *to* twice, *2 single crochet in each stitch*, repeat from *to* twice (12
stitches).
Small pupil (black color):

In a double adjustable ring crochet: 2 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 2 single crochet (7
stitches)
Eyelids (Brown color):

Work 23 chain stitches and on them crochet 3 single crochet rows. Make a knot and cut the yarn
with scissors.
Eyes assemble: On the front side of the trunk, 12 rounds under the union between the branches 1
and 2, sew the eyeballs placing the big one on the right and the small one on the left. Then sew the

pupils on the front side of the eyeballs and with White yarn embroider a point of light on them.
Place the eyelid all around the sides and top of the eyes and sew it.
Nose (Brown color):

Make a knot, cut the yarn with scissors and fill it with stuffing. With the tapestry needle sew up and
down the yarn around each stitch from last round and pull tightly to close. Sew the nose centered
under the eyes.
Arms (make 2):

The arms are crocheted from bottom to top, starting on the hands and have to be filled with stuffing
while you’re crocheting them.
Light-green color:
Rnd 7: Single crochet in each stitch interspersing 1 stitch in light-green color and 1 stitch in
dark-green color.
Continue crocheting all stitches in dark-green color:
Rnd 8: 9 single crochet, 5 half double crochet closed together in the next stitch, 8 single crochet (18
stitches)
(12 stitches).

Join the borders with a single crochet row (6 single crochet stitches). Make a knot and cut the yarn
with scissors. Sew the arms to both sides of the trunk, 11 rounds under the union between branches
1 and 2.
Nest (mustard color):

Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors. Cut some pieces of mustard yarn and place them inside

the nest as straw.
Egg (White color):
Make a knot, cut the yarn with scissors and fill it with stuffing. Sew the egg inside the nest. Sew the
nest over the union between pieces A and B of Branch 2.
Ending details
Sew the crowns openings to the tip of each branch and sew the feet beneath the trunk as in the final
project. With red yarn embroider some French knots all over the crown surface as fruits.
On the front side of the trunk, 12 rounds under the union between the branches 1 and 2, sew the
eyeballs placing the big one on the right and the small one on the left. Then sew the pupils on the
front side of the eyeballs and with White yarn embroider a point of light on them. Place the eyelid
all around the sides and top of the eyes and sew it.
With black yarn embroider the mouth in a small U shape on one of the sides.

Sew the arms to both sides of the trunk, 11 rounds under the union between branches 1 and 2. With
red yarn and chain stitches embroider a heart on one of the arms and with black yarn embroider an
arrow crossing the heart.
Sew the nest over the union between pieces A and B of Branch 2
