So be warned.

If you pay for Scribd and want to cancel, do it the day before they
charge so that you can fully use up the remainder of your time as a paying
customer. If you use a free trial, be aware that they use an algorithm to block the
stuff you read and put in your list, especially your list. I dont know about other
paying customers, but I know that after a year of being with them they never
blocked anything ever. Then they act like this is something that always happens and
act like it had nothing to do with me canceling for 6 days.

I felt like I had to warn y'all because I would have felt bad if someone joined
Scribd because of my gushing post and ended up screwed.

Yep, straight from their FAQ. Still doesn't explain how I was able to listen to
stuff 100% unlimited, from the same author that triggered the blocks too, up until
I canceled. Their FAQ says nothing about the algorithm being harder on those with
free trials and those who cancel with time left, which is obviously what's
happening. There's tons of people who will testify that they got hit harder under
those circumstances.

They should not he allowed to advertise themselves as unlimited because they most
definitely are not.

They also don't allow customers to make informed decisions on how to use their
money on the app. They do not tell you which book will trigger blocks and what will
he blocked when triggered. If people know a certain book will trigger blocks,
they'd probably like to listen to something else. However, they can't because
they're in the dark.

I got one book for $10, which I could have got on audible. Those FAQs don't mention
that you will be stuck paying $10 for one book. When I say I got one book, I mean
it. Basically everything in the fantasy and romance sections are blocked because
that's what I read. Sure, I can get an unlimited supply of stuff I don't read, but
who really wants to read stuff they don't enjoy?

Imagine if Netflix put up a block on all fantasy shows and movies & 70% of your
watch later list because you watched the Witcher. It is popular so they put up
those blocks without any warning that The Witcher would trigger those blocks. Most
probably wouldn't watch The Witcher so they could watch other stuff the rest of the
month but they got no warning so Nwtflix is basically useless to them for a month.
g I'm going to post below. She did some experiments and goes into much better
detail about what's going on and why Scribd is sort of a scam as far as their
advertising as "unlimited" goes.
