Fossil Megalodon Shark Teeth in Sukabumi, Called the First

Discovery in Indonesia.
TRIBUNNEWS.COM - The discovery of fossilized megalodon shark
teeth in Sukabumi, West Java has shocked the public. This is because the
discovery of fish teeth that are thought to have lived around 23 to 2.6 million
years ago was called the first time in Indonesia. This fact was revealed by
the Bandung Geological Museum research team.
As previously known, fossil megalodon shark teeth were found in several
villages in Sungging Mountain Village, Surade District, Sukabumi Regency,
West Java.
Bandung Geology Museum researcher, Oman Abdurahman said, according
to megalodon shark fossil experts in the world, Indonesia is not known for
the discovery of this ancient animal fossil.
However, with the discovery of megalodon shark teeth fossils in Surade,
Oman said, Indonesia can be known as a place where megalodon sharks live.
"With this finding, especially if we succeed in writing a scientific paper and
publishing it in an international journal, it will provide information to the
world that Indonesia too,
namely in Surade, Sukabumi has a location where the ancient Megalodon
shark once lived". "So, all this time the world's experts on megalodon shark
fossils, Indonesia is not known for where the megalodon tooth fossils were
found." said Oman, some time ago.
Oman said that this megalodon shark had an average size (length) of 16
meters. "Just imagine that the shark was an average size of 16 meters from
the teeth (findings in Surade), according to him, the largest in Latin America
was 18 centimeters long teeth. The estimate is probably around 28 so many
(meters) in size," he explained. He assessed that the Surade area has the
potential to find the largest megalodon shark teeth. "So the point is that this
must really be conserved, it must be used as a place of education," he said.
Oman Abdurahman hoped that the place where the megalodon shark tooth
fossils were found would not be used as a mining site. He considered it
better to be used as a scientific tourism site. If possible, this can be used as
an education for the community so that later excavations can be reduced for
sales and replaced with geotourism scientific tourism, for the community, a
geosite will also be made that shows how their natural teeth look in the field.
This will be very valuable and bring the economy and the environment to be
maintained," he said.
RESPONDING ARTICLE
Introduction :

The title of this article is Fossil Megalodon Shark Teeth Discovered in

Sukabumi, Indonesia. Rizal Jalaludin wrote this article, which was published
on February20, 2021, by Endra Kurniawan.

Main body :

This article about the discovery of megalodon tooth fossils was recorded
as the first discovery in Indonesia. The Bandung Geological Museum
Research Team compiled this fact. As previously known, megalodon shark
teeth fossils were found in several villages in Sungging Mountain Village,
Surade district, Sukabumi, West Java. This shocked the community because
the discovery of shark teeth that were estimated to have lived around 23 to
2.6 million years ago was made for the first time in Indonesia. Oman
Abdurrahman, a researcher at the geology museum, said that according to
experts, Indonesia was not known as the place where these ancient animals
were found. This article adds to the reader's knowledge that by finding
fossilized teeth of this megalodon shark, Indonesia can be known as a place
where megalodon sharks live.

Conclusion :

The discovery of fossil teeth of the megaladon shark is the first discovery
in Indonesia, I agree with the text “If possible, this can be used as an
education for the community so that later excavations can be reduced for
sales and replaced with geotourism scientific tourism, for the community, a
geosite will also be made that shows how their natural teeth look in the
field.” because the community can educate the next generation and become
an important geological history for Indonesia. This discovery will be very
valuable and will keep the economy and the environment maintained,”

I highly recommend this article to readers because this article adds to the
reader's knowledge that by finding fossilized teeth of this megalodon shark,
it will provide information to the world that Indonesia can be known as a
place where megalodon sharks live. broaden one's perspective on historical
and geological phenomena, and add insight into Indonesian discoveries.
