• Devised a method using concepts of opportunity cost and analytical hierarchy process to capture stated and
un-stated customer needs for horizontal machining centre
• Applied QFD to transform needs into product designs; identified & removed lean wastes in product
development process; achieved reduction of 10% in design cost & 15% in lead time
• Extended applicability of the method; incorporated it into company’s process manual

• Developed a standard framework to measure leanness and provide directions for lean implementation
