    The Math in Bracketology


    with Mrs. Patton, DCHS Mathematics Teacher

    SPEAKER BIO/OVERVIEW:
    Mrs. Patton will present information about the mathematics behind Bracketology - “the activity of
    predicting the participants in and outcomes of the games in a sports tournament, especially the NCAA
    college basketball tournament.” Students will then be shown how to set up their own 2024 Men’s NCAA
    Basketball Tournament bracket in a STEM Group in the ESPN Men’s Tournament Challenge.
    Participants in the STEM Group will compete for prizes over the course of the tournament!

    IMPORTANT INFO:
    ● ONLY students who did not attend last year’s Bracketology Lunch & Learn may attend.
    ● Do NOT register if you are not sure if you can make it. (Pay attention to the day of the week
    and other commitments you may have during FLEX.)
    ● Students who register should check email to find out if they are actually registered.
    ○ Do NOT just show up to the room. Check email for verification. (Check spam/junk folder.)
    ● Students who are attending will be placed in the Lunch & Learn class for this date in EdFiciency.
    ● Please be on time! We need to begin as soon as the tardy bell rings.
    ● Be prepared to ask questions and take part in the Lunch & Learn.
    ● Email pattons@davie.k12.nc.us if you registered but CANNOT attend. Someone wants your spot!
