According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the first alarm was declared at 12:16 p.m.
The blaze was placed under control at 1:15 p.m. and was extinguished at 1:50 p.m.

Development Office (CSWDO) temporarily sheltered at Bitik Elementary School.

on the evacuation site.
The city's veterinary office also set up a temporary shelter for the pets of the affected families to supply them
with food and water.
"Tinitiyak po ng pamahalaang lungsod na tutulungan ang lahat ng apektado sa abot ng aming makakaya (The
city government assures to help all affected families to the best of our ability" Gatchalian said.
A 73-year-old man died while another one was injured in a fire that gutted 75 houses on Mabolo Street in
Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City on Thursday, Dec. 22.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatality as Norberto Oxima and the injured man as Gene
Verona, 63, both residents of Mabolo St.
Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said Oxima was not able to escape the
fire due to dead-end corridors of his house.
Meanwhile, Verona sustained abrasions on his left foot when he tried to climb a wall with barbed wires while
trying to escape. He was immediately given first aid.
BFP said the first fire alarm was declared at 5:29 p.m. and the second alarm at 5:40 p.m.
The fire was under control at 5:56 p.m. and was put out at 7:21 p.m.

homeless at 1003 Labor Compound, Arlegui Street in Quiapo, Manila, on Thursday, Dec. 29.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatalities as Rul Daniel Cayetano, 34; his live-in partner
Jofemie Porio, 32; their seven-year-old son; their 12-year-old twin nieces; and Rolando Briones, 63, who was
working in a nearby vulcanizing shop.

at 2:50 a.m. and was declared under control at 4:51 a.m.
The fire allegedly started on the second floor of a four-story house owned by Porio and Floralde families.
It also said the delays in controlling the fire were caused by weak water supply from the three fire hydrants
located far from the fire-hit area.
It added that the fire also hit the second floor of the barangay hall and a portion of the daycare center in the area.
Meanwhile, some 382 families evacuated to a covered court in Barangay 388, 1140 Pasaje del Carmen St.,
Quiapo.
The city government said they already provided hot meals to the evacuates.
Mayor Honey Lacuna will personally distribute grocery packs and other assistance to the fire victims on Friday,
Dec. 30.
Most of the fires took place in residential areas and commercial establishments, said Senior Fire Officer 2
(SFO2) Wendell Villanueva, information officer of the CCFO.
“Imagine that, almost P500 million worth of properties have been destroyed in just a span of six months. So if
we will not be careful, there will be more properties that we worked hard to acquire will be destroyed,” said
Villanueva.
Data from the CCFO showed that 26 fires were recorded in January, 16 in February, 26 in March, 13 in April,
17 in May, and 16 in June.
The fire incidents in January were the most devastating with properties amounting to P201 million going up in
smoke.
From July 1 to July 21, 12 fires have been recorded with damage to property reaching P17 million, said
Villanueva, compared to the same month a year ago.
“For the month of July in 2021, we only had 12 fire incidents and the fire damage only reached P436,000,”
Villanueva said.
He said unattended cooking and faulty electrical wiring were the common causes of fires.
Villanueva said the CCFO will intensify its information dissemination for public awareness on how to prevent
fires.
“Fire prevention is a concern of everyone. We are encouraging the public to take seriously the fire bureau’s
advice on fire safety and to value the various related to fire prevention,” Villanueva said.
