Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

"Good morning, class!"

"Good morning, Ma'am!"
"May I request everyone to settle
yourselves, fix your hair, tidy up your
uniform, and then, stand as we start our
class with a prayer. Can someone lead
the opening prayer?"
(A student leads the prayer.)
"Do we have any absentees today?
Beadle, kindly check who's not around
and give me the list of their names later
after the class."
"Yes, Ma'am"
"May I ask how's everyone? Are you all
doing well? How’s your exam that
concluded last week?”
(Student answers)
“Well, congratulations to everyone for
surpassing your examinations. Be
reminded that you all did your best and
that’s something to be proud of so give
yourselves a round of applause!”

A. ACTIVITY
“Now, before we formally start our
discussion, let’s first have an activity
and it is entitled “Act it, Groove it,
Dance it!”. The mechanics of the game
is simple:
1. The class will be divided into 3
groups.
2. They will form a line vertically
parallel to the other teams,
facing backwards.
3. There shall be a representative
per team who will be tasked by
the game master to re-enact and
memorize the dance movements
given to them.
4. The representatives will start
passing the movement to the
person next to them. Talking is
forbidden, so communicate only
through movements.
5. Once the student has memorized
the steps, he/she will pass it to
the next person through tapping
their shoulders until it reaches
the last student of the team.
6. The last student will be
performing the movements in
front together with the first
representative.
7. The closest enactment presented
by the first and last
representative will win the game.

“Are you ready, class?” “Yes, Ma’am!”

(The teacher will show 3 different
movements per team that involves the
elements of Hip-hop)

B. ANALYSIS
Aesthetic Analysis
“Job well done, everyone! It seems like
all of you can dance. How do you feel
about the activity that you just had?”
“The activity made me feel the
excitement of winning but I also want
to execute the steps correctly so that
our team will be able to have the
accuracy of it”
“That’s good to hear! It shows that even
though some of you are not into
dancing, you still cooperated with your
team”

Content Analysis
“From the dance movements that you
just had presented, what do you think is
the relevance of it in today’s class?” “Ma’am, I think the dance steps that we
used in the activity are the elements
that can be found in Hip-hop”
“Great job! Were you guys able to
identify what movements were used”
“Based on the activity, some
movements used are popping or
locking, wacking, and such.”
“What an impressive observation you
got there! So we’ll delve deeper into
that later as we progress in our
discussion”

C. ABSTRACTION
History of Hip-hop Dance
“Hip-hop originated in the
predominantly African-American. This
dance began during the late 1960's and
early 1970's, originally inspired by the
movements of African dancing, and
flourished as a new style of dance
performed on the street for the people.
It is a cultural movement that attained
widespread popularity in the 1980s and
‘90s. Hip-hop incorporates aspects of
modern dance, tap, and swing,
integrating rap music and complex
movements to form artistry.”

4 Elements of Hip-hop
“The term hip-hop refers to a complex
culture comprising four elements:
deejaying (turntabling), rapping (MCing
or rhyming), graffiti painting (graf or
writing), and b-boying (encompasses
hip-hop dance, style, and attitude with
the sort of virile body language).”

“DID YOU KNOW: Postural semantics is

a fifth element that refers to knowledge
of self-consciousness and is sometimes
added to the list of hip-hop elements
particularly by socially conscious
hip-hop artists and scholars”

Health Benefits of Hip-hop Dancing

“May I know who considers themselves
as dancers? Please raise your hands” (Student raises their hands)

“I am confident that they already know

the sense of hip-hop dancing and its
benefits to our health. Can someone
from the class, aside from these
students, share to me the essence of
dancing in our daily lifestyle” Student: “Ma’am, I believe that dancing
helps us in maintaining a healthy
lifestyle”

“Good point you have there! Alright,

Can I still have some answers?” Student: “I think, it helps us to become
physically fit and at the same time,
socialize with people who are
interested in dancing as well”

“Indeed! Good observation. Alright, are

there any more answers?” Student: “Hip-hop dancing allows us to
freely express ourselves like our
emotions and body language”

“Impressive! All of the answers are

correct, so let me just wrap it up in the
most simplest form. Hip-hop dancing
helps us in various ways but some of
these are the following: ”

1. Stronger and Tone Muscles - in

addition to being a great way to
burn calories and improve
fitness, it can also help to build
strength. As they learn more and
more complex routines, they will
build their muscles in a way that
other forms of exercise can’t

A typical class of 60 minutes can
have you dripping in sweat,
depending on the intensity.

3. Improves Cardiovascular
Strength, Balance, Coordination,
Agility, and other Fitness
Components - Consistently
raising your heart rate can
promote cardiovascular health,

bone and joint health. This dance
requires a lot of skills like stunts,
headstand, and headspin that
needs careful instructions. These
skills can improve some of the
components of physical fitness

4. Develops Personal Satisfaction

and Better Social Skills - hip-hop
helps an individual meet
self-satisfaction while dancing. It
develops one’s self-confidence,
self-esteem, and psychological

we are able to achieve these benefits?
Now that we’re through to its
advantage, let’s now proceed to the

locking exaggerating hand
and arm movements and
gestures.

rapid, calculated movements to
spell out the words C-R-I-P, as

their loyalty and affinity
3. Walk it Out - As you step to your
