Good Morning Everyone I am Kyle Rivas, (Intro of the rest of your groupmates). We are the group 8 and
the topic we’re gonna discuss is all about a A Pig Satisfied and a Pig Dissatisfied: Mill on Higher Pleasures

Slide 2

So first of all, Who is John Stuart Mill, The main character of our topic.

So Johns Stuart Mill is was an English philosopher, economist, and exponent of utilitarianism.

He was prominent as a publicist in the reforming age of the 19th century and remains of lasting interest
as a logician and an ethical theorist.

especially yun ngang ideology of "utilitarianism"

apektado nito

(o which an action (or type of action) is right if it tends to promote happiness or pleasure and
wrong if it tends to produce unhappiness or pain—not just for the performer of the action but
also for everyone else affected by it)

Now that we are moving in the next slide, lets discuss ano nga ba yung utilitiarianism"

Now I’m gonna share with you yung isa sa mga famous quotes ni John Stuart Mill

(Reads the Quotes)

And if the fool, or the pig, is of a different opinion, it is only because they only know their own side of
the question.”

John Stuart Mill throws down this quote at the beginning of the second chapter of his
book Utilitarianism. In this quote, he argues that no reasonable person would ever want to be a dog or a
pig just for the sake of being more comfortable. Yes, being human can sometimes cause stress that
animals or fools don't have to deal with. But Mill totally can't imagine someone wanting to give up their
human brain just for the comfort of animal life. Although, sometimes you've got to wonder how nice it'd
be…

That’s the end of our report. I hope you have learned something about it, and thankyou so much for
listening

A human being dissatisfied in comparison to a satisfied pig. This talks about how humans have more
complex desires in comparison to animals, that can be a literal understanding. But if we go into a deeper
analysis this may be in reference of how humans have various desires and how unattainable our desires
can be. I mean can there even be a satisfied pig? Aren't they the eternaly houngry? So this may mean
that it is better to be wanting for something to attain, than to be stagnant and conceding with what life
gives us.

As for Socrates in comparison to the fool, to me that is quite obvious. There is a saying that goes
“ignorance is bliss” and “a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing” those of us who do not question
our curiosity have it made. Why trouble your mind for something you cannot comprehend? I ill advise it,
you will just get a headache and you will thank me later. To better understand one self is to know the
enemy and in the words of gi joe, “knowing is just half of the battle.

But if we go deeper on it, ito ay maaaring sanggunian kung paano ang mga tao ay
I mean pwede
bang may kuntentong baboy?

I i ill advise it, sasakit lang ang ulo
Better to strive as hard as one can as a human being and came up short. Than to live the life of
domesticated animal that is a slave to pleasure and impulses. By forgoing excessive pleasure one opens
up the path to attaining true human happiness. That is essentially the achievement of one’s most prized
single goal or dream before death. Specifically,

it is in the pursuing of one’s goal and not in the attaining of the goal, however, that one finds true
happiness. Because to be denied the ability to realize one’s goal is much worse than striving for one’s
goal and never grasping it completely.

That is essentially the achievement of one’s most
prized single goal or dream before death. Specifically, it is in the pursuing of one’s goal and not in the
attaining of the goal, however, that one finds true happiness.
