Reading Program for Frustration and Non-readers (8 Week Reading Module Curriculum)
SY 2023-2024

Introduction:
Reading is significant for the reason that the spoken and written words are the building blocks of life as it is a vital skill that
develop one’s mind and imagination and help us discover news things in life. Also, it is a timeless form of entertainment and
information. Some would be able to widen his/her outlook in life through reading which contributes to his/her success. Reading
holistically develops every individual towards self-improvement and better future.

Teachers can provide various opportunities for students to absorb vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and discourse
structure as they will be exposed to contextual reading through giving them variety of materials to read and reading activities.
Reading development leads students to live life away from ignorance and serves as their ticket to have a great journey in formal
education. Teachers with perseverance and dedication to reinforce it can be the catalyst of change in students poor reading
performance despite of today’s pandemic.

Quezon Memorial Institute of Technology Inc., School Year 2023-2024 recorded number of Frustration and Non-Readers in
English and Filipino subject from grade 7-10, there are 8 non-readers out of 325 total enrollees and 25 learners under frustration
level. In order to overcome the reading challenges as the above stated results show, teachers will conduct reading intervention in
regards with this problem to help our learners in developing their reading skill and decrease their reading difficulty by making this
activity plan to identify learners’ reading level, particularly the Frustration and Non-Readers. The plan will compose Pre-Planning
During Implementation and Post Implementation stages.

Objectives:
a. Create a Reading Program Action Plan in English and Filipino for first quarter this 2023;
b. Implement the School Reading Program in Quezon Memorial Institute of Technology to improve the reading abilities of
learners who are under to non-reader and frustration level;
c. Conduct a face-to-face meeting to equip and help teachers to know on how to conduct reading intervention plan to
decrease the number of Frustration and Non-Readers;
d. Conduct the Reading Program and monitor its progress on August and September.
