Activity #2- Beyond the Classroom

Direction: Provide answers to the following questions. Submission of output is due on


February 13, 2024 in our class session.

Choose and interview an entrepreneur in your community. Inquire for the following:

1. What’s the story behind the business?


- In 2015, Richard Villa and his wife Roseline Villa, opened a small grocery
store in barangay Cabugao. They decided to open a small grocery store,
for them to have an additional income and also for Richard to have a
diversion because he doesn’t have a proper work and his wife was always
leaving and gone every 9 months to work in international crew ship.
Richard was the one who manages their store, he was passionate about
quality food at a good prize. He had been able to build a good relationship
with his food suppliers. Moreover, Richard always make sure that he offer
good service to his buyers and making people always feel welcome to
their shop. He soon had more buyers or what we called “suki”. Years had
passed, Richard and his wifes grocery store is running strong and had
some upgrade. They soon decided to launch another business and that is
the fitness gym in other barangay. After the trial and error he had gone
through in their businesses, he successfully mastered the business tactics
that suits their businesses. His wife Roselyn was always supported him in
his ventures, he feel so blessed and thankful with the success of their
business.

2. How well does the entrepreneur fit in the characteristics described in this
chapter?
- The entrepreneur is well fitted. He’s strong and isn't afraid to take on the
challenges of starting a business from scratch.

3. What advantages and disadvantages does the owner see in owning a


business?
- For Mr. Richard, one of the advantages is having a regular costumer and
profit. Grocery stores are essential businesses, and people need to buy
food and household products regularly, providing a consistent customer.
Also, Owning a grocery store can provide a sense of community
engagement. You have the opportunity to become a trusted local
business, supporting local farmers, suppliers, and other businesses.
Building relationships with customers can lead to a loyal customer base
and positive word-of-mouth. Disadvanges. According to Mr. Richard the
only disadvanges is that the Grocery stores can get crowded, especially
during peak shopping hours and holidays. This can lead to long checkout
lines, parking difficulties, and a generally hectic shopping experience.
4. What advice would he/she offer to someone considering launching a
business?
- Mr. Richard said that always remember that launching a business requires
dedication, hard work, and a willingness to take calculated risks. Every
entrepreneurial journey is unique. Continuously educate yourself, adapt to
changing circumstances, and trust your instincts as you navigate the
exciting world of entrepreneurship.
