Activity No.1

1. Distinguish natural logic from scientific logic.

The term natural logic describes how people naturally reason and make
sense of everything that is without having formal logic instruction. It relies in
ordinary experiences, intuition, and common sense. Personal views, thoughts,
and personal perspectives frequently serve as a basis of natural logic.
However, scientific logic is a methodical and formal approach to reasoning. It
is often referred to as formal logic or symbolic logic. It assesses and analyzes
arguments using principles, rules, and symbols. Scientific logic ignores
subjective opinions or feelings in favor of concentrating on the logic and
coherence of arguments.

2. Differentiate the two approaches in logic.

The main differences of the two approaches in logic which is the Natural Logic
and Scientific Logic are follows:

● Basis: Scientific Logic depends on formal rules, symbols, and principles

while the Natural Logic is based on intuition, common sense, and people
experiences.

● Subjectivity vs. Objectivity: Scientific Logic looks for to be objective and

impartial while the Natural Logic is subjective and influenced by one’s own
views and feelings.

● Rigidity: Scientific Logic is more exact and rigid, employing formal systems
and rules of reasoning whereas the Natural Logic is more adaptable and
susceptible to interpretation.

● Application: Scientific Logic is can be applied in disciplines like

mathematics, computer science, philosophy, and formal reasoning. However,
the Natural Logic is frequently applied in daily life and informal arguments and
discussions.
3. Elaborate the importance logic to students, professional and life.

Logic plays a crucial role in various aspects of life, education, and

professional fields. Here are some key reasons why logic is important:

● Critical Thinking: Logic helps develop critical thinking skills, enabling

individuals to analyze and evaluate arguments, identify fallacies, and make
sound judgments. It enhances problem-solving abilities and promotes rational
decision-making.
● Effective Communication: Understanding logic improves communication
skills by enabling individuals to present their ideas and arguments coherently,
logically, and persuasively. It helps in constructing well-structured arguments
and avoiding logical fallacies.
● Academic Success: Logic is fundamental to academic disciplines such as
mathematics, philosophy, computer science, and law. It provides a solid
foundation for understanding complex concepts, solving problems, and
engaging in academic debates.
● Professional Success: Logic is valued in many professional fields, including
law, science, engineering, and business. It enhances analytical thinking,
problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, leading to better performance
and success in these fields.
● Avoiding Misinformation: Logic equips individuals with the skills to critically
evaluate information and distinguish between valid arguments and misleading
or false claims. It helps in detecting logical fallacies and biases, promoting
intellectual integrity and informed decision-making.
