Module Objectives: 1. Apply children’s understanding of the environment and to their appreciation of the relationship between people and the environment. 2. Plan and implement programs for science and the study of the environment. 3. Demonstrate knowledge and application of the integrated curriculum for exploration and problem-solving. 4. Collaborate with young children in the development of their understanding of the scientific method. Credit Value: 3 Module outcomes: At the end of the module the students demonstrate an ability to:- 1. Apply children’s understanding of the environment and their appreciation of the relationship between people and the environment. 2. Plan and implement programs for science and the study of the environment. 3. Apply knowledge of the integrated curriculum for exploration and problem solving. 4. Collaborate with young children in the development of their understanding of scientific method 5. Acquire skills to work with children with special needs with reference to the teaching and learning of science. 6. Communicate with young children by inspiring them to learn through curiosity and exploration. Synopsis: In the module, students are introduce to the basic science concept and the relationship between people, science and environment. Students will be required to develop integrated proms which incorporate a number of strategies for involving and engaging young children in problem-solving activities.
