Assessment Brief

Detailed Brief for Individual / Team Assignment

Assignment Title:

Digital Presentation of your 'Research findings, analysis and conclusion'

Description of the assignment, task, content and structure:

You are required to make an individual, pre-recorded, digital presentation of your 'Research findings,
analysis and conclusion'

Your presentation should be 15 mins long. Using a voice over Power Point type presentation – with your
face always visible. Your tutor must be able view your submission in a suitable format such as Prezi,
Camtasia, Office Mix (PowerPoint with voiceover in Office 365).

Help will be provided on how to effectively make and record a presentation. Attendance to one of the
sessions offered is mandatory. Students MUST create an audio overlay with their face showing on screen
throughout showing their delivery and slides must be designed to accommodate the video box needed to
show the face.

Our objective here is to see the evidence that you identified, used, and analysed the data as described in
Assignment 4. That you now effectively display your data so that your tutor can see and understand both
the data and the approach to analysis used. Make sure your data links clearly to your aims, objectives, your
findings and of course your conclusions.

To effectively complete this assignment, you must:

 Develop your knowledge of the recording technologies and then use these effectively
 Understand what is meant by each of the terms used here, i.e. Findings; Analysis; conclusions and
do not guess at what these might mean.
 Prepare a written formative version of your findings, analysis, and conclusions before you create
your final version.
 Rehearse what you plan to say and time yourself to make sure you do not exceed the allocated
time but also that you do not create a document which is short in detail because you rushed it.
 Use the support available at CASE to review your work and take their advice

To prepare your narrated presentation you MUST:

To prepare your narrated presentation you MUST:

Attend one of the workshops that will be provided for you to support your presentation preparation. It is
vital your presentation conforms to the instruction given. Recordings of this may be available on the
canvas site. It is the student’s responsibility to attend one of the offered workshops.

YOUR MUST ensure you;

 Prepare your presentation with your camera on so your face is shown on screen. This is required
so the marker can see you and your oral delivery against your slides.
 Work within the 15 minute duration from start to finish. The marker stops the recording at 15
minutes and does not mark beyond this point.
 Upload your completed audio overlaid presentation to YouTube. Attach the link to your YouTube
presentation to the top of your Microsoft Word created bibliography and upload your bibliography
document to your canvas assignment point. (The marker will use your submitted bibliography to
click on your YouTube link). Never upload your recording directly to canvas as it will be too large
to do this easily.

Please then submit:

Guidance to support students

As you start recording, make sure it is silent in the background and

check that your audio recording can be clearly heard before submitting
your work.

Your first slide should show your student number, module name and
course. List your research aims and objectives

On the second slide, offer a brief background to set the context of your
research topic and explain why your research objectives are important
to the sector. Explain the beneficiaries of your conclusions and
recommendations.

data
In the last assignment, you explored key data that you had found and
discussed how you would analyse it. As you are now at the end of
your research journey, we want you to detail the key data sources that
were central to your key findings and conclusions. With this in mind,
you need to;

Identify your key sources. The date of them, why they are valid, how
you sourced them and how you defined and selected the key themes
within it (if relevant) or the key data that allowed you to detail your core
findings. It is likely that you will have 4-5 key sources that gave you
your best information and so these are those that you discuss in this
section. Within this section, also detail whether the data was
qualitative or quantitative or a mix of both

findings
Start by having one (or possibly 2) slides that is dedicated to your data
analysis. If your analysis was done thematically, then detail the key
themes generated and taken forward and the number of sources used
in defining these key themes. If your analysis is quantitative, explain
your analysis and clearly explain why your statistical approach is valid
and appropriate for your findings.

In order to discuss your findings, they must be explored in relation to

the research objectives that you set yourself. As such, ensure you
head each of the slides in this section with your numbered research
objectives, so your discussion is tied back neatly to each of them in
order.

As you do this, you may have some objectives that you have been
unable to answer fully. Please offer what you can and detail why you
couldn’t find the data (it is not acceptable to say “I didn’t have time” or
“I couldn’t find the data” as you have been working on this research for
months.

Guidance to support students

As you make your reasoned conclusions and recommendations, make

it very clear who the audience is for this section (industry sector,
company owner, legislators within the given country etc)

Any conclusions made, on your first slide in this section, must be clear
and concise and taken from the natural conclusion of your findings.
Drastically new information which is unvalidated and the students’ own
opinion should be silent.

Your second slide in this section is for recommendations moving

forward and again these should be a natural extension of your findings.
It is acceptable to highlight areas of your work that need additional
primary research moving forward.
Reflection 10% 1 What would have led to better outcomes and what would you do
differently?

Guidance to support students;

As you submit this assignment, you have reached the end of your
research journey. You can now use the benefit of hindsight and
explore what you would have done differently, if you were to undertake
this exercise again.

There is no weakness in self-reflecting and being honest with areas

that did not work well. Please be honest in exploring what you might
do differently (deeper research before selecting your topic, time
management weaknesses, lack of detailed resources on some of the
objectives etc). Indeed, where students do not recognise what they

might have got wrong, the marker may interpret this as a student not
being able to reflect.

This is an exploration of you the student, not your topic.

Discuss how accurate your initial GANTT chart was and your final
diary, this demonstrates your planning of your research project at
inception and at the end of the module.
