I am excited to share with you the detailed overview of our upcoming writing class. Our goal is to
enhance your child’s writing skills and vocabulary in a structured and engaging manner. Here’s what we
have planned:

Brainstorming and Outlining: We will start by teaching your children how to brainstorm and outline an
essay. This is a crucial step that helps in organizing thoughts and forming a coherent structure for the
essay.

Creating the First Draft: Once the outline is ready, students will begin writing their first draft. During this
process, they will incorporate vocabulary words from their “Reading Highlights Book”. This method not
only helps in memorizing the words but also in building meaningful sentences.

Review by the Teacher: After completing their first draft, students will submit their essays for review. I
will provide them with constructive feedback and guide them on what needs to be improved or
corrected.

Final Draft and Grading: Students will then work on their final draft based on the feedback received. This
final draft will be graded and will count towards their overall performance in the class.

Feedback and Score: Along with the grade, I will provide detailed feedback on an essay rubric, which will
help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement.

Homework Assignments: Any homework assigned will be due in the next class. Regular practice is key to
improving writing skills.

Please note that I will also keep Chris’s teacher informed about the assignments to ensure a coordinated
approach towards your child’s learning.
