INTRODUCTION
According to John Dewey,(1938) as well known a philosopher and educational
reformer according to him experience refers to the knowledge and skills that
someone has gained through their past actions and experience is a natural
phenomenom, not outside of the human species but completely inside of it as
part of our evolutionary make-up. For humans, the environment for humans,
the environment is social, cultural and political.
NUR AFIFAH IRAUIN RADEN INTAN LAMPUNG, (2023) Reading is one of
the most important activities to get information. The students reading
comprehension in MTs Darussalam Batumarta VI is still low. To solve this
problem, the researcher applied Wattpad application to develop students
reading comprehension. This application helped students to be more active
and enjoyable in learning English especially in reading.
Kamonnat Tamrackitkun, (2010) this study investigated reading
comprehension, reading fluency and attitudes of students after exposure to
extensive reading (ER), an approach to teaching and learning foreign
languages without using a dictionary or focusing on grammar, but aiming to
get learners to read extensively by choosing books on their own, for general
comprehension, good reading habits and enjoyment.
This research aims to investigate whether the reading comprehension of
students in Tulungatung National High School is influenced by the text genre
to which the text belongs, and in particular, whether there are differences in
the comprehension of narrative and informational texts between the two
grades. In addition, it explores whether students' reading comprehension is
differentiated by text genre in terms of the four (4) distinct levels: 1)
vocabulary comprehension; 2) literal comprehension; 3) intratextual
comprehension; and 4) intertextual comprehension. In Greece, there has
been no prior empirically supported research of such kind that focuses on the
need to clarify the interaction between the different comprehension levels, as
well as on the ways with which they affect the process of comprehension and
augment global knowledge.
