The last weekend of the Premier League season
was full of drama and there’s still the FA Cup
trophy to be decided.
Going into the weekend, Manchester City had
already locked up a third consecutive Premier
League title.
Erling Haaland’s 36 goals broke the record for
the most scored by a player in one season and
helped Man City win their fifth title in the last
six years.
It meant that much attention on the final day
was on the bottom of the table to see who would
be relegated.
Each year, the three teams at the bottom of
the Premier League are sent down to the league
below. This is called relegation.
Southampton had already been relegated,
but three teams were battling on the final day
desperately trying not to join them - Everton,
Leicester City and Leeds United.
Leicester became internationally famous after
their fairy tale season in 2016. However, ‘the
Foxes’ have struggled this year and, even though
they won their final game, couldn’t do enough.

What happened to Leicester in 2016?
• When Leicester started the 2015/16
season, the odds of them winning the
Premier League were 5000-1. A whopping
99.98% likelihood of them not doing it.
• Yet, they kept winning games and, by
the end of the season, lifted the trophy!
Leicester’s campaign that year is said to
be one of the greatest sporting stories
of all time.

the FA Cup.
Man U won the Carabao Cup in February
and will be looking to add a second piece of
silverware to their season.
Man City won the Premiership so will be
hoping to hoist their second trophy of the
year too.
The match kicks off on 3rd June at 3 p.m.
