MESSAGE

The role of the infrastructure sector in providing a robust framework for stimulating India's economic
growth cannot be emphasised enough. It is the catalyst that will harness economic activity by providing
employment, strengthening supply chains and fostering innovation.

It is in this context that pioneering institutions such as NBCC become important to India's growth story and
I am glad to note that the organization has not just adapted to the challenges of COVID-19 and the evolving
economy but also lead the way in reigniting construction and infrastructure development in the country.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the aim of the Government is to
develop world-class infrastructure that improves the quality of life of all Indians. I am delighted to say that
NBCC, through its diverse portfolio, has led the charge in adopting best practices and state-of-the art
technology in the construction business.

I can confidently say that every task handed to NBCC, irrespective of the scale, has been executed in a
manner that has set benchmarks in the industry. I have also been impressed with the recent shift within
NBCC towards sustainability initiatives, including on important redevelopment projects which has led to
profitable and sustainable monetisation of land assets. This is a welcome development.

I convey my best wishes to NBCC for all its future endeavours as well as for the successful release of this
annual book.

I wish NBCC all the best.

Secretary, Ministry of Housing

Government of India

MESSAGE

During my association with NBCC since 2014 as Additional Secretary and then as Secretary, I have watched
NBCC relentlessly working shoulder to shoulder with the Ministry in fulfilling the aspirations of the public
towards infrastructure development of the nation.

I have witnessed many landmark projects executed by NBCC in India or abroad being delivered timely
despite the pandemic. NBCC has been instrumental in changing the face of Govt. colonies of Delhi with the
construction of New Moti Bagh GPRA complex and East Kidwai Nagar GPRA Complex. Supreme Court
Building in Mauritius inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and the Super Speciality Hospital
at Rourkela, Odisha inaugurated by the Hon'ble President of India are recent feather in cap of NBCC.

It is worth highlighting that the company is now executing the stalled housing projects of Amrapali as per
the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.

NBCC also rose to the challenge thrown up by the pandemic in other ways as well. It distributed rations for
migrant laborers, contributed to the PM Cares Fund, converted hospitals into Covid wards and more.

I am hopeful that NBCC and its employees would deliver similar benchmark projects in the coming year. I
take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to the NBCC team and wish them all success in future.

been virtually revolutionized by the applications of Plastics.
Plastic is a non-biodegradable material and researchers
found that the material can remain on earth for 4500 years
without degradation. Several studies have proven the health
hazard caused by improper disposal of plastic waste. Plastics,
a versatile material and a friend to common man become a
problem to the environment after its use. Disposal of a
variety of plastic & rubber wastes in an eco-friendly way is
the thrust area of today's research. Looking forward the
scenario of present life style a complete ban on the use of
waste plastic cannot be put, although the waste plastic is
taking the face of a devil for the present and the future
generation. But the use of waste plastics in road construction
is gaining importance these days because plastic roads
perform better than ordinary ones and the plastic waste
considered to be a pollution menace, can find its use. The use
of waste plastic for coating the aggregates of the bituminous
mix is found to improve its performance characteristics.

Countries such as India,
China and Nigeria are
in the inner core of
urbanization and they
account for 35 per cent
of the urbanization that
is taking place in the
world. The only way to
deal with that is to
build urban
infrastructure. Thus,
there is a need to build
700-900 million square
meters of urban space
every year until 2030.
