Health Tycoon: An Educational

Simulation Game on Positive Habits

Introduction
• Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) winter course (teacher training on
obesity and metabolism subjects) to teachers from elementary schools
• Diabetes
• Exercise routines
• Healthy eating
• Proper sleep

• Research question:
• Could an educational game promotes the significance of healthy habits,
such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and sleep, playfully, aligned
with WHO’s Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) on health and
well-being?

• The game shows iteratively the impact of each decision on the health.

Future Enhancements

• Better feedback regarding sleep
• More dynamic kitchen with full dishes

• Research:
• We intend to conduct future studies with control and experimental
groups to verify quantitative scores of students’ exams about the
content of habits in a healthy lifestyle.
Conclusion
• The game has exhibited promising results in bridging the gap between
traditional classroom instruction and student-centered learning.

• The game inspires various other fields of study, making it an asset to any
educational setting seeking to enhance the effectiveness of their teaching
and learning experiences by using simulation games.
