2 TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION

2.1 HANDLING

CAUTION: If no suitable means and/or trained staff are available, it is advisable to seek
the assistance of a specialised company for these operations.

CAUTION: Before unloading and positioning, under no circumstances remove fixing

chains or straps on the machine, do not remove the electrical cabinet, do not free the
head. The machine is prepared for transportation and lifting in the Constructor’s
workshop. Only proceed with the installation instructions described below once the
machine has been positioned in the work area.

The head is at the bottom and is fixed to the right side of the machine by stops (on DALÌ 70
instead, the head is fixed to the centre of the machine by stops), while the vices are fixed to the
left of the machine by one fixing bracket. The doors are open and are also secured with stops.

For lifting the machine there are brackets ‘A’ - Fig. 05-01.
When unloading and positioning the machine in the user’s workshop, a crane must be used
able to take the machine weight and dimensions as stated in par. 1.1.
The “container kit” can be fitted to the Left and Right sides of DALÌ 40 / 70 to allow
transportation in containers with no risk of damaging the machine.

The machine must be lifted by the crane using straps hooked up to the 4 ringbolts fixed to the 2
brackets ‘A’ - Fig. 05-01 and then taken to a position where unloading is possible. The
securing straps must always be 3 metres long.

DALÌ 40 / 70

Alternatively, the machine can be lifted and then moved by a fork lift truck, suitable for the
weight of the machine, in which case the forks are inserted at points ‘A’ in Fig. 05-02.

Fig. 05-02

On the machine the customer will find the Instruction Manual and a kit containing the servicing
tools.

2.2 CHECKS

- Check that the place where the machine is installed does not have any areas in shade, that
there are no glaring lights, or dangerous strobe effects (reflections-reverberation) due to the
type of lighting used in the workshop where the machine is to be used.

- Check that the machine has not been damaged during transit.

- Check that the machine rests evenly on the floor.

2.3 MACHINE POSITIONING AND INSTALLATION

The machine must be installed leaving at least 1m of free space at the back so that the door of
the electrical cabinet can be fully opened (see Fig. 05-03).

1000 mm

Fig. 05-03

Once the ideal position has been selected the machine installation procedure can begin.

IMPORTANT
REMOVE the 2 lifting brackets (see Fig. 05-01).
CAUTION (ONLY DALÌ 70): NEVER MOVE the doors manually.
REMOVE stop ‘C’ - Fig. 05-04 on axis X situated on the right of the head and stop ‘D’ - Fig. 05-
05 for the Y head axis by undoing the 2 screws that fix it to the machine.
N.B. (ONLY DALÌ 40) To access screw ‘C’ - Fig. 05-04 first remove guard ‘G’ - Fig. 04-01.

C

To release all the vices, situated on the left of the machine, REMOVE stop ‘E’ - Fig. 05-06 by
undoing the 2 studs that fix it to the machine.

The “container kit” ‘F’ - Fig. 05-06A (DALÌ 40) / ‘G’ - Fig. 05-06B (DALÌ 70) fitted to the LEFT
and ‘H’ - Fig. 05-06C fitted to the RIGHT of the machine, when present, must be REMOVED
undoing the respective fixing screws.

NOTE: All movements of the machine must be carried out following closely the
instructions described in this manual.

2.3.1 MACHINE LEVELLING (Fig. 05-07)

The machine is placed on the ground using the 6 plates ‘1’ situated underneath the machine
bed. There are 3 plates at the front, and 3 plates at the back of the machine. The plates should
be placed on the ground in such a way that the bottom of the screw adjuster ‘2’ fits into the
corresponding hole cut into the plate itself. With the aid of a good spirit level on the work table
fences (X axis – Y axis), turn the screw adjusters ‘2’ until optimal machine levelling is achieved
then lock the screws in place using the lock nuts ‘3’.

2.3.2 FIXING TO THE GROUND (Fig. 05-08)

The machine is anchored to the ground using the 4 brackets (Dalì 40) / 6 brackets (Dalì 70) on
the Rh and Lh of the machine. Each bracket is already fixed to the machine by a bolt fitted into
the slot ‘1’.
To anchor the machine to the ground, undo this bolt, rest each bracket in the ground sliding it
down in the slot ‘1’, then tighten the bolt and lastly fit a STOP plug in point ‘2’.

2 1
Fig. 05-08

Once the machine is anchored to the ground, fit the chips collection box to the front of the
machine.

CAUTION - IMPORTANT
The machine must be fixed to the ground with the tables slightly sloping down to the right (i.e.
near the collection box for chips and liquids produced by machining) with a gradient of roughly
10 mm. between the left and right ends. This helps to convey the chips and liquid to the
collection box.

2.3.3 FIXING THE FRONT BENCH (VERSION WITH 2 CELLS)

The front bench is fixed to the machine bed using the 2 screws ‘A’ - Fig. 05-09.
After being height adjusted with the screw ‘B’ - Fig. 05-10, the bench must also be anchored to
the ground by fitting 2 screws for each foot at points ‘C’ - Fig. 05-10.

2.3.4 ELECTRICAL AND PNEUMATIC CONNECTION

To put the machine into service it must first be checked that the mains power supply is efficient,
safe and reliable, protected by an automatic supply line switch and properly earthed.
This applies also to the compressed air supply which must be of sufficient section for the
required capacity and the master tap (or valve) for the incoming supply to the machine. If the air
distribution line is of considerable length, then appropriate release barrels must be provided at
suitable points to drain off the condensation.

Before carrying out any operations of this sort, make sure that the power supply available is the
same as that required by the machine and that the main switch 'A' - Fig. 05-15 is in 0 (ZERO)
position.

A
Fig. 05-15

The machine does not come supplied with electrical power leads (400V three-phase and 230V
single-phase).
The electrical power lead to the machine must enter though the side of the electrical cabinet.
For the 400V connection, attach the power lead to the 3 phases L1, L2, L3 of the main switch
terminal block inside the cabinet.
Connect the external protective lead to the equipotential point PE of the plug.
For the 230V connection, attach the power lead to the auxiliary contacts of the main switch.

Protect the 400V power lead from current overloads and short circuit with a suitable thermal
magnetic switch.
Protect the 230V power lead from current overloads and short circuit with a suitable thermal
magnetic switch that has a trigger time of ≤ 0.4 sec.
Protect the direct and indirect contacts with a differential that has a Id ≥ 0.5 A differential current
for the 400V three-phase and a differential that has Id = 0.03 A for the 230V single phase.

The sections of the machine power leads, which are dependent on the total power absorbed by
the machine, will be established in the technical design stage, as will any supply voltages that
differ from the standard ones provided for.

WARNING
Open the lower door of the console and make sure the power lead, serial lead, monitor lead and
keyboard and mouse leads are properly connected to the PC.
Check also that the PC and monitor plugs are properly inserted into the board.

15
DALÌ 40 / 70

The inlet for the air supply is situated in the side of the air filter.
Insert the incoming air hose (with an internal diameter of 12 mm.) into the union provided ‘B’ -
Fig. 05-16 and secure it with a metal clip.
There is also a pneumatic energy isolation switch ‘C’ - Fig. 05-16.
Check on gauge ‘D’ that the pressure is 7 bar; if not, adjust using knob ‘E’ (see chap. 7.2).
