Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students will refer back to the passage to answer questions.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Have students look back at the passage to answer questions.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

I'm going to start by calling either purple, green, blue or orange group. I will tell them we have
a reading passage, read the whole passage and ask them questions about it. They will then
refer to the passage to answer the questions.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the
text as the basis for the answers.

Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will get the students' attention by giving clear instructions and by using attention
grabbers like 123 eyes on me... or by tapping on their desks.

• Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the following
broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE, INDEPENDENT
STUDY)
Interactive Instructions: Discussions
Direct Instructions: Questions

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will engage students and get them on board to participate by making sure I'm being
positive, such as speaking in a good tone.

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I'll check in with the students to make sure they're all engaged in the class, such as by
taking a quick look at them to make sure they're paying attention.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I'll tell them we're done, and they did a terrific job as I wrap up the lesson.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will assess whether students have achieved the lesson goals or learning targets by
asking them questions about the reading.
