THEO: MUSIC THEORY HUB
Theo: Music Theory Hub provides gamified learning content
and assessment tools for instrumental music teachers in
Ontario. Instrumental band teachers often find there is a
lack of time or resources to teach theory given the limited
time for in class learning when there is also the challenge of
balancing with rehearsal time. For students, balancing to
learn how to navigate and learn the instrument itself is a
challenge; thus, when is there space for music theory?

What if there is a way to make theory learning fun and

teaching efficient for educators?

It fills the need for engaging and interactive music theory

content tailored to the Ontario curriculum.

PRIMARY SOURCES:
FELLOW EDUCATORS
1 Spoke to few colleagues who have teaching
experience in the band classroom about their needs
and the proposed idea of bringing a music theory
learning app - responses have been positive and
colleagues expressed needs

COMMUNITY OF EDUCATORS
2 Next step is to collect a survey data from the
“Beginning Band Engagement (Band Director Chat
Room)” Group on Facebook to further collect data
on the demand among music teachers
