    A man was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain after consuming an herbal preparation of Luffa echinata to treat his digestion and jaundice. Laboratory tests showed elevated liver enzymes. He was treated conservatively with intravenous fluids and his liver enzymes gradually improved over 4-5 days, allowing him to be discharged after 6 days of hospitalization. The case report documents the potential toxicity of overdosing on an herbal preparation of Luffa echinata.

    Overdose Toxicity of Herbal Preparation of Luffa Echinata: A Case Report

    ABSTRACT

    Luffa echinata (Roxb), commonly referred to as "Bindal" in Hindi, is a thin herb that is a
    member of the Cucur bitaceae family and is found throughout India. Traditional medicine
    also uses the plant's roots to cure bronchitis, piles, jaundice, vaginal discharge, and as a
    laxative and painkiller. which he has consumed nearly 5-6 hour before, to improve his
    digestion and jaundice symptoms. there was no bloating. He was managed conservatively
    with I/V Fluids, liver enzyme and bilirubin level are gradually improved over a period of 4-5
    Days and Patient was Successfully discharge after 6 Days.
