ASSIGNMENT 1

Module 1- Introduction to National Service Training Program


1. What is NSTP?

NSTP or the National Service Training Program is a program aimed at enhancing civic
consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism
while undergoing training.
NSTP has three program components; (1) Reserve Officers training Corps (ROTC)- designed for
military training for tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for
national defense preparedness. (2) Literacy Training Service – designed to train students to become
teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth, and other segments of
society in need of their service, and (3) Civic Welfare Training Service – a program contributory to the
general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its
facilities especially those devoted in improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety,
recreation and morals of the citizenry.

2. Why it is important to you as STUDENTS?

NSTP is important because it helps us grow and develop and be more responsible not only in our
own but also doing the right thing in social community. Contributing to our community as a sign of love to
our country.

3. What are the Vision and Mission of NSTP

Vision Mission

envisions itself as the Nation’s prime mover in committed to provide a globally competitive
community-building, involvement, and link reserved corps (whether civilian or military)
aging. who shall be leading agents in attaining a
better quality of life, sustainers of peace,
unity, cooperation, and growth in the
communities.

4. In your own words, how do you define National Service Training Program?

National Service Training Program or NSTP is all about encouraging the development of a better
society by building a strong sense of responsibility, leadership and teamwork. This program helps us grow
and be more responsible citizen to our country.

As a state university, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines believes that: (1) Education is an
instrument for the development of the citizenry and for the enhancement of nation building; and (2) That
meaningful growth and transmission of the country are best achieved in an atmosphere of brotherhood,
peace, freedom, justice and nationalist-oriented education imbued with the spirit of humanist
internationalism.
