TASK 1: Identify the content needed in the following topics of volleyball.

Historical ● The founder of volleyball was William Morgan of Holyoke,


Development Massachusetts it was designed as an indoor sport for
businessmen. Morgan called the sport “mintonette,”

● in Tokyo Japan Olympic introduced Volleyball in the year

● 2 man beach volleyball was added to the Olympic in the year
1996.
Terminologie Centerline-is the horizontal line that lies under the net. This line runs
s the width of the court and splits it into two separate parts

Assist- setting the ball to a player who attacks the ball for a point.

Service error- an unsuccessful serve that occurs by the ball landing


out of bounds, failing to clear the net, or a foot fault from the
server.

Kill- a successful hit that results in an immediate point.

Spike: When the hitter attacks the ball with a swinging motion. This
is in an attempt to get a kill.

Cover- to protect an area on defense.

Change of Court- players change court after the first match.

Touch- anytime a player has contact with the ball.

Substitute- reserve player

Ace: a serve ball that is directly in a point.

Rotation Order: the clockwise movement of the players on the after


a side-out has occurred and the opponents have lost the serve.

Service: the means of putting the ball into play by the offensive
team at the service area.

Offensive player: an player of the team possession of the ball

Offensive Team: the team that possesses the ball.

Formation: arrangement of player.


Facility Volleyball Court- the length of the entire in-play area of the
court.Each side of the court is therefore 30 feet by 30 feets in size.

Lines- painted in all white.

Equipment Net- is typically used as a barrier to divide the


player teams and to avoid unintentional collisions
The height:
- 2.43m (7’11 ⅝) for men
- 2.24 m (7’ 4 ⅛) for women.

Ball- made of synthetic leather, have circumference of 65- 67 cm


and weight of 260- 280g

Antenna- is a perimeter line used to determine if the ball is in or out.

Basic skills
Serving- a player serves the ball to start the game. Either
underhand or overhand.

Digging is also a strategy or technique on defense where you are


able to keep an attacked ball by the opposing team off your court
floor.

Setting- it is an overhead passing the ball to the teammate or


sending to the opponents. it will use your fingertips to make contact
with the ball.

Passing- sending the ball to your teammate or to the opponents.

Blocking- a defensive play that is accomplished by 1, 2, or 3 front-


row players jumping and pressing their arms over the net in an
effort to “block” the opposing hitter.

Significant
rule ● Only 6 players on the floor at any given time: 3 in the
front row and 3 in the back row.
● Points are made on every serve for the winning team of
the rally (rally-point scoring).
● Players may not hit the ball twice in succession (a block
is not considered a hit).
● Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a
serve.
● A ball hitting a boundary line is in.
● A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor completely
outside the court, any of the net or cables outside the
antennae, the referee stand or pole, or the ceiling
above a non-playable area.
● It is legal to contact the ball with any part of a player’s
body.
● It is illegal to catch, hold or throw the ball.
● A player cannot block or attack a serve from on or
inside the 10-foot line.
● After the serve, front-line players may switch positions
at the net.
● Matches are made up of sets; the number depends on
level of play.
