Clothing Care and Maintenance - Module
Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson the student will be able to:
"Clothes" refer to garments or items of clothing worn on the body for protection, modesty, or
adornment.
Clothes serve various purposes, including providing warmth, covering the body, expressing
personal style, conforming to social norms, and indicating roles or occupations. Examples of
clothes include shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, jackets, socks, underwear, and accessories like
hats, scarves, and gloves.
Clothes look better and last longer when properly cared for.
Taking care of one’s clothes is necessary for a person to look better while wearing them.
How can you take care of your clothes properly so that they will last longer and not wear out too soon?
Note the following.
1. Clothes should be kept properly.
It's important that they're stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent mildew.
While hanging them retains their shape and keeps them wrinkle-free, make sure you're using
wooden or padded hangers.
It involves using a hot iron to smooth out wrinkles and creases in your garments, maintaining
their crisp appearance. This simple task enhances your overall appearance and leaves a positive
impression on others.
This involves washing them properly, storing them correctly, repairing any damage promptly,
and avoiding unnecessary wear and tear.
It involves choosing attire that is suitable for the activity you're engaging in, the weather
conditions, and the expectations of the people around you.
5. When your clothes are wet with perspiration, air dry them first.
Air drying also helps prevent the growth of bacteria that can cause unpleasant smells in your
clothes. So, by allowing your clothes to air dry first, you're ensuring they become fresher and
cleaner before you wear them again.
It's a simple but important step in maintaining good hygiene and overall health.
Storing clothes in a cabinet helps maintain their freshness and cleanliness until you're ready to
wear them. It also makes it easier to find what you need when getting dressed.
Using a proper container or hamper for dirty clothes helps maintain cleanliness and tidiness in
your living space.
To put on clothes properly, first wear undergarments, then put on bottoms, followed by tops,
and finally add any additional layers or accessories as needed.
the act of cleaning one's hands with soap or handwash and water to remove

Removing stains
