Introduction
As we know in our country developmental of technical and vocational strategies, there are
professions to train the trainees in competently the problem of machining and tools, according to
this problem we mind to fabricate the development of manual tier changing machine. What we
mind to fabricate tool is for anyone how carried wrench to open and close work easily able to
perform this task.

Many of manufacturing maintenance activities in small and medium workshop or maintenance

departments and garages of various garages are needed tier changer and so on. In the absence of
such machines, technicians are forced to do it the harsh and wrong way of manufacturing
systems like open and close. This obviously, affects the precision and quality of tools parts
involved and subsequently affects overall performance of tools. Tyer changer that are usually
imported are heavy duty and expensive besides demanding foreign currency. Therefore, there is
a great need for a manual Tyer changer that can manufacture at reasonable cost.

In addition to this by our assumption to get a great roll to build a capacity of small enterprise and
to fulfill the shortage of such simple tools in TVET institution. Based on this problem we are
interested on manufacturing of Tier changer because, this tools can operated easily regardless of
skill and it can be distributed for small enterprise with low cost and finally we interested to
minimize shortage of this tools in training program and also to solve a place where time and
power is not available.

Generally we interested manufacturing tools is can make which are row materials available in
our country, for any trainer and trainees’ easily develop their skill, it have cost according to their
usage when we compeer to other Tyer changer.

the work shop.
 To minimize shortage of changers in every manufacturing organization or service center
or garage.
 It avoids the cost and power is not appropriate technology.
 The most of the tire changer is in the average, which is every people buy.
Tyer changer
 It provides the peoples an efficient service life with full maintenance equipment or
requirement.

1.6 Limitation

 Shortage of raw materials to select the appropriate uses during manufacturing of the
project.
 Shortage of machine and accessories.
 Lack of information about similar project.
 Short period of time used to be manufactured.

1.7 Characteristics of the Tyre changer

When compared to tyre changer old and new technology changer machine combination and filers
system is very suitable for the people live in which has no electrical power supply.

 The selection of the location for installation of the tyre changer usually is not a problem
that means it is not apply electrical energy and other source of power. The handle only
needs the man power so, it is install on any concrete floor which is used to fix by hand.
 The best characteristic of this project is the environmental situation is no considered,
because it is used for every where under the maintenance availability during and after
operation.
1.8 Overview of all design consideration

Most engineering designs involve a multitude of considerations and it is a challenge to the

engineer to recognize all of the proper portion.

The following points are considerations for;-

 Body of component include

Tyer changer
 Strength
 Weight
 Size and shape
 The surface of the components are
 Wear
 Lubrication
 Corrosion
 Frictional force
 Traditional considerations ;
 Materials
 Geometry
 Operating consideration
 Cost
 Availability
 Productivity
 Component life

 Modern considerations
 Safety
 Ecology
 Quality life
 Miscellaneous considerations
 Reliability
 Ergonomics
 Aesthetics
1.8.1 SELECTION OF MATERIAL

In the selection of suitable material to satisfy a particular design and product requirements, it is
necessary to look at many aspects to insure that the component or assembly can be manufactured
within the resources available that the completed product will function satisfactorily throughout
its design life and that all these can be achieved at an acceptable cost.
Tyer changer
Parameter to be considered in the selection of materials are;-

1. Material properties
2. Manufacturing characteristics
3. Cost and availability.
1.9 The selection process

There are some instance where the choice of the material is to severely restricted by service
requirements that there is either no choice or only an extremely limited choice of possible
material. As the selection process is one of the optimization, it is of extreme importance for the
engineer to be able to determine the most important property to satisfy a particular product.

The following is a possible and systematic approach to the problem of material selection. These
are;-

 Analyze fully the product specification and determine the minimum acceptable value
for all the relevant material properties.
 Make first selection eliminating all materials which do not possess all the minimum
criteria.
 Assess the degree of importance of the various required properties from essential
through to desirable and for each property place the potential material in making
order.
 Process cost for each material.
 Select the best overall combination of properties for the least cost.

2 Cost per unit property method

The cost per unit property method can be used as a criterion for selecting the optimum materials,
considering the cost of the bar of a given length (L) to support a tensile force (F). the cross
section area (A) of the bar is given A=F/S

C’=C+P+A+L=CXPXFXL

Where;

S=working stress of the material which is related to its yield strength by an

Appropriate factor of safety.

C= cost of the material per unit mass

P= density of the material

2.1 Material selection for bar and handle

The bare part of the bender or handle is highly resistant lead and the parts should be sufficiently
resistant of the applied force and other factors.

Material requirements for base plate;-

 High tensile strength.

 High yield strength
 Low density
 Good weld ability

2.2 Manufacturing process and part dimensioning

In the process of manufacturing all parts of the tire changer are performed in medium size
work shop. The equipment requires are lath machine, hand grinder, drill press machine, welding
machine, power hacksaw, and appropriately in some cases may be milling machine are used.
Most of processes are performed by skilled person so, some parts like dies and die block are
seriously manufacture according to the given parameter.
Tyer changer
2.3 Theoretical aspects of manufacturing process
Theory process are used to help to increase the understanding to produce parts and shape, these
is usually more than one method of manufacturing a part from a given material.

 The processing method are;-

 Casting and shaping
 Machining (turning, drilling, milling, boring, shaping, etc.)
 Cutting (power hacksaw)
 Joining (welding, brazing, soldering, etc.) are some methods of manufacturing
processes.
Selection of a particular manufacturing processes are depends on not only on the shape to be
produced but also a large number of other factors. The type of material and its properties are
basic considerations. Brittle and hard materials are not be formed easily, where as they can be
cost or machined by several methods.
2.4 Selection of manufacturing process
The importance of proper selection of manufacturing process and machinery are relates to the
characteristics of materials, the dimensional tolerance and surface finish and manufacturing cost.
Manufacturing process is selected by various considerations, some of these are;-

 The characteristics and properties of the work piece material.

 The shape, size and thickness of the part.
 The dimensional tolerance.
 Surface finish requirement.
 The production quantity.
 The cost involved in individual and combined aspects of the manufacturing operation.
2.5 MANUFACTURING SYSTEM FOR OPERATION PLAN

A manufacturing system can be described at the factory organized to produce parts products.

The following machine tools and component operators should be available during the operation
plan, these are;-

 Lathe equipped for turning, facing and grooving.
