WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE TO USE THE MARIMBA WORKSHOP MARIMBAS

1. Hand-made with quality materials by experienced craftsmen.
2. Tuned electronically by experienced tuners.
3. Designed by Orff specialists who understand music teaching in the classroom.
4. Two ranges of Marimbas, the signature range and the traditional range, ensuring that all your marimba needs will be satisfied.
5. The only marimbas manufactured in the country where the bars may be interchanged to change keys. All other marimbas
manufactured can only play in C and G. Watch Curro Hillcrest use our unique note-changing design to perform in multiple keys
throughout their performance without the need for a fully chromatic marimba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hFbWyRfRpo
6. We pride ourselves in our professionalism, after sales service and all-round teaching support that you will benefit from should
you join the Marimba Workshop Family.
7. The instruments are durable and easily stored and transported.
8. Bags may be bought to store the notes when not in use or to transport them when the band plays at functions.
9. Covers are available to keep the marimbas in tip-top shape.
10. Regular marimba courses are offered by experienced marimba teachers.
11. These marimbas are incredibly user-friendly and can be used in classrooms from grade 0 to grade 12.
12. A preschool programme using these marimbas is available. Contact us to find out more about our specially designed and fully
comprehensive preschool marimba program: The Adventures of The Little Grey Squirrel
13. Three children can play on one combination instrument at the same time. Two children can play on the bass at the same time.
This cuts down on space required.
14. Dummy keyboards are available to engage all the children in the lesson at the same time.
15. Over 15 years experience in the industry, trusted by over 400 schools throughout South Africa and abroad.
16. There are over 1000 marimbas made by the Marimba Workshop around the world.
17. These marimbas are created and designed with full music education inclusivity in mind. They are the only instruments
manufactured in the country with interchangeable notes which allow you to play in different keys. Apart from that, they also cater for
students with learning problems as they allow notes to be taken off thus enabling students initially to focus on specific notes and
develop the ability to slowly play more and more notes without being overwhelmed by a full keyboard all at once. Marimbas in general,
have significant social and cognitive developmental impacts on all children. Playing the marimba is one of the few
activities where you use both sides of your brain all the time. As correct marimba technique involves alternating your hands,
crossing the midline becomes second nature, which has major positive developmental effects. Our signature marimbas, in
particular, encourage team work, sharing and easier peer to peer learning as there are multiple children on one instrument as
opposed to other models of marimbas where the students are physically disconnected being on other instruments and not
together as a group.

THE MARIMBA WORKSHOP’S SIGNATURE MARIMBAS
The Marimba Workshop’s signature marimbas are the most cost-effective purchase as you get 3 players
playing simultaneously on a combination marimba and two on a bass marimba.
When you are doing comparative quotes it is important to factor in the number of children you get playing on a
marimba. Some marimba companies may offer cheaper instruments but you will only be able to accommodate fewer
children on these instruments. We are the only company in the country that makes instruments that specifically
accommodate 3 players on our signature combination marimba (and 2 players on our signature bass marimba). All other
marimbas are designed to accommodate 1 player per instrument.

A 3 ½ octave combination marimba (incorporating the piccolo, soprano/alto and tenor) for
3 players which includes F#s and Bbs and 3 pairs of beaters: R18 000 excluding VAT

A 2 octave bass marimba (incorporating the baritone and bass) for 2 players which includes F#s
and Bbs and 2 pairs of beaters: R20 000 excluding VAT

If you buy two combinations and a bass you get 8 Players playing at the
same time. This is extremely cost effective: R56 000 excluding VAT
