INTROUCTION

I am Anjana V A studying T.com Tax Programme (regular) , in

St Teresa’s College ( Autonomous ), Ernakulam, The Mahatma
Gandhi University ( MGU ) set up a massive open online
course ( MOOC ) on organic manure.
Organic Fertilizers are fertilizers that are naturally produced.
Fertilizers are materials that can be added to soil or plants, in
Order to provide nutrients and sustain growth. The use of
organic manure is one of the alternative ways for enhancing
Production and improves the soil health. Most manure
consists of animal feces; other sources include compost and
Green manure. Manures contribute to the fertility of soil by
Adding organic matter and nutrients, such as nitrogen, that
are utilized by bacteria, fungi and other organisms in the soil.
Compost is the decomposed remnants of organic materials. It
is usually of plant origin, but often includes some animal
dung or bedding. Green manures are crops grown for the
express purpose of plowing them in, thus increasing fertility
through the incorporation of nutrients and organic matter
into the soil. Other types of plant matter used as manure
include the contents of the rumens of slaughtered ruminants,
spent grain and seawee

2.4 COMPOSTING INOCULUM SELECTED ;

Inoculum made by using 1 glass of curd mixed
with 50gm of jiggery and this is diluted with two
glasses of water.

2.5 BROWN MATTER USED ;

Dry wastes like dry leaves, sawdust,

The base holes of the pot are closed.

At the bottom of the pot a layer of soil is spread
at 20 cm thickness

s Add paper piece or crushed newspaper and crushed dry
s leaves above the soil
Above this layer, spread the kitchen waste.
Over this layer, add the composting inoculum.
Observe the moisture content and add adequate amount of
water or rice water.
Repeat the above process till the pot Is filled.

COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS

Cost benefit analysis is the standard economic method to assess

the financial viability of investments. The cost and measuring the
benefit by that cost are two main parts of a cost benefit analysis.
I made the manure with no cost. All items (veg peel, fruit peel,
dry leaves, egg shells, garden pot, newspaper, inoculums) and
materials are taken from home and surroundings. The manure
making was less cost effective and beneficial. Inoculum is made
by using one glass of curd and a small amount of jaggery, this
solution is diluted with two glasses of water
CHAPTER - 6
CONCLUSION

The production of agricultural produce under organic fertilizer will

boost the yield of the crop compared with inorganic fertilizer.
Organic manure has multiple benefits due to the balanced supply
of nutrients, increased soil nutrient availability due to increased
soil microbial activity, the decomposition of harmful elements, soil
structure improvements and root development, and increased soil
water availability. Composting will undoubtedly be an essential
part of producing a good potting media. The composting process
will take time to perfect for individual local conditions, materials,
manpower etc. it is therefore best to start small and simple until
expertise has been gained. The goal of composting is to produce a
consistent product year after year.

ABSTRACT

I started my project on 13th June 2022. I had taken forty

two days to form the final composed. The quality of the
composed is good. The total weight of the compost formed is
1 kg. organic manure is good for both our crops and soil. As
the population increases wastes per sector also increases. So
as an initiative to decrease the waste in an effective way zero
waste management programs are implemented. All the
essential conditions were ensured for the manure making. on
02 July 2023 the compost is formed. Thank you, MG
University, for the great experience.
