3.2 Review of Literature
Aarti Chahal, Seema Chahal, Bhawna Choudhry, Jyoti Chahal (August 2013):
Job Satisfaction Among Bank Employees Researcher describes that employee
working in respective area mostly belongs to the age group of 30-50 and most of them
are married. Female employees working in the respective area are approximately half
of the working male and most of them are graduates distributed along different-different
designations. Factors like working environment of the employees, performance
appraisal techniques, relationship with other employees and grievance handling and
safety provisions are contributing towards job satisfaction.
Nidhi Saxena, Dr. Ravindra Kumar (March 2022): Impact of Work Life Balance
on Job Satisfaction The research indicates that there is positive relationship exists between
work life balance and job satisfaction among married working women in the banks of NCR.
The work life balance is measured on five organizational factors namely Work Load, Work
Autonomy, Social Support at workplace, Work Family Conflict, WLB Policies. The result
indicates that except Work Family Conflict all four factors are positively related to job
satisfaction. 72% respondent feels that there is a job security in banking sector whereas 11%
women feels that it is the most secure workplace for women because there is less gender
discrimination in compare with other service sector.
DODIYA BRINDA 13
Brijmohan A. Vyas, Pallavi Muppayyanamath (August 2022): A study on
Employee Job Satisfaction in DCC Bank at Bagalkot District From the research it
can be said that employees are satisfied with working environment and interpersonal
relationship in the bank, training programs and career growth opportunities employees
are satisfied but with some constraints which can be improved as given in the
suggestions. Hence, if banks look into those suggestions, then there may be still better
growth in the organization as well as the enhance individual performance towards their
work and thus, there will be good productivity of the bank. By this study researcher
conclude that, employee job satisfaction is very important in the organization, so that
management should take care of their employees that will leads to employee morale,
performance as well as organization productivity in the competitive world.
Dr. Yogita Satish Garwal, Mohini Paul, Dr. Brajesh Kumar, Dr. Arokia Raj (
October 2022): A Preliminary Study of Job Satisfaction Among Women
Employees in Banking Sector of Delhi Ncr, Sonepat of Haryana the Researcher
finds that the level of job satisfaction of married women employees, it is found that
overall job satisfaction is significant and very weakly negative correlated. Sub factors
of job satisfaction i.e., pay, supervision, contingent condition, nature of work and
communication are also weak and negative correlated. Whereas fringe benefit is
significant and weakly positive correlated. Promotion, operational condition and co-
workers are not significant and no relation found with job satisfaction. Number of
children is found negative correlated with job satisfaction as increase number of
children decreases the level of job satisfaction of women employees. Number of
dependents is positive significant with their level of job satisfaction as through their job
they are able to meet their and their dependents financial responsibility which give them
high level of satisfaction and feel the importance of the job.
Weaver (1978) finds that the more husband earns, the more satisfied women are with
their own jobs because of the greater choice they have to work or not. This suggest that
women with higher earning husbands may also be more intrinsically motivated and
more involved in their jobs than women with lower earning husbands because they are
more likely to work for reasons other than financial ones.
DODIYA BRINDA 14
Dolan and Gosselin (2000) did research to investigate the impact of the “social
demographic indicators on life and work satisfaction” using the ANOVA analysis and
a contradictory result is discovered proving that “marital status does not explain
differences in job satisfaction”. However, out of the ordinary result was found, showing
that marital status was instead greatly affecting life satisfaction allowing them to
conclude that those “married (i.e., couple situation) are significantly happier in life
(higher life satisfaction) than singles of all kinds”.
DODIYA BRINDA 15
The study concluded with, there is a lot of variation in satisfaction level of employees.
So, organization should take utmost care and develop strategies to become top one
profit making bank in competitive era.
Shakya Anu, Devi Rama (2016): study the work stress in banking sector in Nepal.
The study reveals that bankers are under a great deal of pressure. Working hours,
ineffective compensation system, lack of intrinsic factors, inadequate empowerment &
insufficient development opportunities, role overload, inadequate time available for
himself and his family are the major factors causing work stress for bank employees.
During research It was also found that there is no significant difference in stress level
experienced by bank employees in private and public sectors in Nepal.
Lopes Caral, Kachalia Dhara (March, 2016): A Study to find the relationship
between the job stress and job performance of employees in banks of Mumbai.
The result shows that job stress had a negative relation with job performance that when
stress occurs it effects the performance of employees negatively, that lower the stress it
increases the performance so both these are inversely proportional each other. The study
clearly found that there is a significant relationship between type of the banks, gender,
age, education, job role, interpersonal relationships and impact of occupational stress.
To decrease the level of stress the banking sector employees must adopt new coping
strategies for maintaining good physical and mental condition which will improve
productivity level of the bank.
Kottawatta. H., Arunika MMA (2015): A study to find the effect of work life
balance on employee job satisfaction among non-executives in the public banking
sector in Colombo district. The results of the study emphasized that there was a
negative relation of work life balance with job. Except job autonomy, work to family
interference, family to work interference, work stress, life stress and work load were
negatively correlated with job satisfaction so the bank management has to introduce
various strategies to reduce the conflicts of work life of non-executives for the purpose
of getting maximum contribution
