Highlight
• 116 districts affected, including 13 districts and 78 Villages in Pasir Mas officially
declared ‘calamity hit’.
• At least 937 people killed and 1,343 people injured since 14 January.
• Rainfall nationwide is 2.87 times higher than the national 30-year average, with some
provinces receiving more than five times as much rainfall as their 30-year average.
• The Government of Malaysia has earmarked MYR 35 billion (ca. US$173 million) to
aid flood-affected people under the National Income Support Programme (NISP), among
other assistance.
• Humanitarian partners are providing aid for flood-affected people even as weather
and ground conditions inhibit access.
EMT Task 1
1. Your team task - deployed on the above location on the map.
2. Prepared the Deployment Planning including medical kits, Risk
Assessment, Communication Plan and ects.
3. From your Sub EMTCC, coordinate the deployment.
4. Get an information - 1 women at age 65 years patient condition and
plan for safe evacuation. Patient cannot be evac by rescuer, need
intensive medical care.
5. You are now the nearest team and clinic to support the mission.
Difficulties
1. Road severe damage
2. Fast water raising and less logistics available
3. No TELCO and GIRN communication available
4. Access to the patient location ONLY by boat, walk and boat, helicopter
is impossible at this time and have to wait for 24 hours.
5. Walkie talkie (Handy) only can be communicate within 5-7 km since
the repeater having crowd emergency calls.
