PROTOTYPE REPORT

INTRODUCTION:
With this prototype we seek to make people have independence again in some
way, due to the loss of a limb (in this case a Hand), with this prosthesis the
person will not only be independent again, but will not feel it as something
strange, with this the self-esteem of the person can increase.

After this, a study will be carried out to find out the capabilities of the sensor
once assembled and operational.

Finally, an economic study will be carried out, detailing costs and economy.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

This is achieved through different sensors and a 3D printed hand, this makes it
much more accessible to the patient, in addition to being very durable.

WHAT IS OUR APPROACH?

What we want to achieve is that technology helps people who have suffered an
accident and lost a part or limb so that with this prototype they can have a more
normal life

To conclude the introduction we have to understand that technology is and

should be used to do good and make people's lives easier, as it has been done
in recent years, and actions such as moving or grabbing something are no
exception, so that is why we present this 3D Printed Hand Prosthesis.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The problem here comes from the fact that unfortunately not all people can be
in some way independent and need other technological solutions, this is the
importance of technology in the lives of these people.

Among the many people who may need this type of solution are those who lost
some of their parts due to any circumstance or even people who were born
without it.

JUSTIFICATION:
This is justified and done with different elements indispensable for the care of
the person who will use it.
In addition to the fact that its cost is relatively cheap.

HIPOTESIS:
With everything we have discussed, this project ends up being something very
convenient and a great solution for people who require it.
And it's the most convenient solution.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The objective of our project is to design a low-cost prosthetic hand for the
recovery of movement of a person with a lack of it.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:
To study current prosthesis models for the recovery of movement and anatomy
of the upper extremity (hand).

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK:

PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT AND
IMPLEMENTATION
This is developed with a Code and a Servo Motor.

PROTOTYPE IMPLEMENTATION
Our Prototype is mostly implemented in the
branch of medicine.
The research that is carried out is to be able to give the best uses and taken
hand in hand with mechanics and medicine to offer solutions to users who
suffer from amputations or a similar problem, giving opportunities to people
when doing daily activities.

Medical needs are tied up with bioengineering. It can be said that

bioengineering is the exposure of knowledge between mechanical engineering
in physical-mathematical methods and the field of medicine.

PROTOTYPE VALUE PROPOSITION

develop improvements in the design and usability of a prosthetic hand, at an
affordable price, that is our value proposition; With these improvements
incorporated in the hand prototype that now has five fingers, the aim is to
publicize the operation that this low-cost prototype developed with additive
manufacturing can offer.

FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROTOTYPE
A feasibility study for a 3D prosthetic hand could include the following:

1. Design and customization: 3D printing allows the prosthesis to be

adapted to the specific needs of each individual. Modifications can be
made to the design to adjust the size, shape, and functionality of the
prosthetic hand.
2. Materials: The study should evaluate the materials used in the printing
3D of the prosthesis. It is important to select materials that are durable,
lightweight, and safe for everyday use.

3. Functionality: The prosthetic hand must be able to perform a wide range

of movements and actions similar to a human hand. The study should
evaluate the functionality of the prosthesis and its ability to perform
everyday tasks.

TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL FEASIBILITY

STUDY (COSTS).
3D printing can significantly reduce the costs of fabricating a prosthesis
compared to traditional methods. The study should look at the costs associated
with printing

SOCIAL, ECOLOGICAL AND

TECHNOLOGICAL IMPACT

. Social Impact:
- Accessibility: 3D printing makes it possible to reduce the manufacturing
costs of prostheses, which makes them more accessible to people with low
economic resources.
- Customization: The ability to adapt the design of the prosthesis to the
individual needs of each user improves their quality of life and autonomy.
- Inclusion: 3D-printed prosthetics help people with disabilities better integrate
into society and participate in everyday activities.

Ecological impact:
- Waste reduction: 3D printing uses only the necessary amount of material,
reducing waste compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
- Use of sustainable materials: Biodegradable and recyclable materials can be
used in the 3D printing of prosthetics, contributing to environmental
sustainability.

Technological impact:
- Innovation: 3D printing has revolutionized the manufacture of prosthetics,
allowing for more advanced and functional designs.
- Manufacturing speed: 3D printing technology allows for faster manufacturing
compared to traditional methods, reducing the waiting time to obtain a
prosthesis.
- Research and development: 3D printing has stimulated the research and
development of new technologies and materials to improve prosthetics and their
functionality.

In summary, the 3D printed prosthetic hand has a positive social impact by

improving accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. In addition, it
has an ecological impact by reducing waste and using sustainable materials.
Finally, it has a technological impact by fostering innovation and development in
the field of prosthetics.

HOW THIS PROTOTYPE WOULD BE

PROTECTED:
Copyright Registration: You can register the design of the prosthetic hand as a
work of original authorship. This will give you exclusive rights to the design and
allow you to take legal action against any infringements.

Trademarks: If you've developed a name, logo, or distinctive mark for your

prosthetic hand, you can register it as a trademark. This will allow you to protect
your brand identity and prevent others from using a similar name or logo that
could cause confusion in the marketplace.

It is important to consult with an intellectual property attorney to determine the

most appropriate intellectual property protection strategy for your 3D prosthetic
hand.

RESULTS ANALYSIS:
The finger has been assembled and once all the parts have been manufactured
and after the corresponding post-processing, checking the correct functioning of
the assembly.
It has been verified that the sensor works correctly and that it has a small error
associated with assembly and operation.

Overall, a low-cost base has been achieved

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, 3D printing technology has revolutionized the manufacture of
prosthetic hands, offering significant advantages in terms of customization,
accessibility, and costs. A feasibility study for a 3D printed prosthetic hand
should consider aspects such as design and customization, materials used,
functionality, cost, durability and maintenance, as well as user acceptance and
satisfaction. In addition, the 3D-printed prosthetic hand has a positive social
impact by improving the inclusion and autonomy of people with disabilities, an
ecological impact by reducing waste and using sustainable materials, and a
technological impact by fostering innovation and development in the field of
prosthetics. To protect the intellectual property of a 3D-printed prosthetic hand,
strategies such as copyright registration, patent application, trade secret
protection, trademark registration, and the implementation of confidentiality
agreements can be considered. In summary, the 3D-printed prosthetic hand is a
promising solution that combines advanced technology, personalization, and
accessibility, and has the potential to improve the quality of life for people with
disabilities.
