1. Technical questioning:
I. What is the problem really about?

The main issue with traditional whiteboards is that they're not interactive, making it hard for
users to change content digitally. They also don't support collaboration well, especially for
remote work. Plus, it's tough to save or edit information later on. This suggests for new
solutions that fix these problems and offer better ways for people to work together.

II. What implicit expectations and desires are involved?

Implicit expectations and desires are that users want a whiteboard that feels natural, like using
a regular one, but with added interactive features. They want it to make collaborating easier,
allowing them to share ideas. Being able to join in remotely and save their work easily is
important too and having extra features like tools for writing on the board, recognizing
objects, or using AI helpers. By meeting these needs, manufacturers can create whiteboards
that users really like and find useful.

III. Are the stated customer needs, functional requirements, and constraints truly
appropriate?

Yes, Determining if the stated customer needs, requirements, and constraints are suitable
involves checking if they match what users want, can be practically implemented, and fit
within the product’s limitations. This means considering factors like user feedback, market
trends, technical capabilities, and budget constraints. Regular testing and feedback help
ensure that these needs and requirements remain relevant and appropriate.

IV. What avenues are open for creative design and inventive problem-solving?

Considering input methods beyond touchscreens, such as styluses with pressure sensitivity,
voice commands, and gesture recognition, opens up possibilities for more versatile interaction
with the system. In terms of creative tools, creating innovative features for real-time
interaction, remote participation, and shared workspaces enhances teamwork and
communication. Integrating AI can bring benefits like smart search, content suggestions.
Making the smartboard resizable can be very helpgul for portability.

V. What avenues are limited or not open for creative design? Limitations on
scope?
Existing display technology could impose limitations on screen size, resolution, or touch
sensitivity, affecting the overall user experience. Security concerns may lead to restrictions on
functionalities or data sharing options to ensure data security. Budget constraints might
restrict the inclusion of advanced hardware or software features, impacting the product's
capabilities. Additionally, balancing portability with display size and functionality have
physical limitations that need to be addressed during product development.

VI. What characteristics/properties must the product have?

A high-quality display is essential, providing clear view and suitable resolution for both text
and images. It's important to ensure fast processing between stylus and screen display to have
smooth experience. Collaboration features, including real-time interaction, content sharing,
and annotation tools, enhance teamwork and communication. An basic interface is necessary,
making it easy for users of all technical abilities to learn and use the system efficiently.
Connectivity options are vital, enabling the device to connect with external devices and
software smoothly.

VII. What characteristics/properties must the product not have?

A complex interface can be challenging to learn and navigate, which reduces the overall user
experience. Laggy response times, resulting in delays in responding to user input, can lead to
frustration. Poor image quality, such as low resolution or blurry visuals, makes it difficult for
users to see content clearly. Limited compatibility with different devices and software can
pose challenges in connecting and functioning smoothly. Ensuring privacy is also neccesary.

VIII. What aspects of the design task can and should be quantified now?
Display size and resolution are crucial factors to consider, determining the visual quality and
clarity of the screen. Touchscreen response time, measured in milliseconds, indicates how
quickly the screen reacts to user input. The number of supported simultaneous touch points
determines the level of interactivity and multitouch capabilities. Connectivity options,
including HDMI ports and Wi-Fi range, dictate the device's ability to connect with external
devices and networks. Battery life, measured in hours for portable models, indicates how long
the device can operate without needing to be recharged.

IX. Do any Biases exist with the chosen task statement or terminology? Has
the design task be posted at the appropriate level of abstraction?
Making the SmartBoard resizable can be a difficult task to implement as it needs a lot of
research and peoper materials to make it resizable.

X. What are the technical and technological conflicts inherent in the design
task?

When designing the product, it's crucial to balance display size,

resolution, and power consumption effectively to optimize performance.
Additionally, integrating touch, voice, and gesture input methods
seamlessly is essential for user convenience. Achieving high touch
sensitivity and response time while keeping costs affordable ensures
accessibility.
