Education in Iraq

Mohammed Jasim Betti

Classification of Input:

In this research, the researcher seen the reality of the students in Department of
English in Iraq are graduated from different backgrounds. Therefore, they have variety of
experience in learning English on their secondary school. Additionally, Departments of
English in some university have a variety of procedures to accepting their students. It
depended on the geographical location of the university and also the strategy that the college
used in order to accept the students. They might use the average of the students in the
secondary ministerial examination and the grade of English in the exam, but some other
universities are not using that kind of procedure.

This is actually the problem in this research. When the university faced the lack of
quality in requiring the students to the Department of English or Colleges of Education in
general. When it comes to the process of the learning, the lecturer would have a hard time to
make the best graduate students.

Classification of Output:

When there is a problem in the beginning, then there is also a problem until the finish.
Output always depends on the input, so when there is a problem in the students’ variety of
background and a lack of method to requiring students in Department of English and
Colleges of Education, the output like be the poor qualified students happen. In this research,
the graduates from DE or CsE are expected to be a secondary school teacher in Iraq. But in
reality, some of the graduates from Colleges of Arts that are expected to work as a researcher
also appointed as a teacher regarding to the lack of qualifications. This is also because the
lack of the academic staff that are unqualified of knowledge to make a good outcome.
