About OpenGamma

OpenGamma is the market-leading Fintech firm providing cutting-edge hosted

services for treasury and margin management. Our software enables firms that
trade derivatives to maximise their returns and minimise their trading costs. With
over 60 clients, including some of the world's leading hedge funds, commodity
firms, and asset managers, OpenGamma’s products have helped save millions of
dollars in capital.

We are a growing, remote-first company that understands the difference each

individual can make. We have employees in over 15 countries across Europe and
North America, and have optimised our working practices to maximise the
efficiency of remote work. We operate with transparency and minimal bureaucracy,
and make it clear how your work is contributing to the company strategy. We bring
the whole company together twice a year, with additional team events each
quarter, so that everybody can get to know their colleagues in person.

About the role

Our modern, cloud-native services run millions of calculations every day on data
that is constantly changing - calculations that our clients rely on to guide their
trading decisions. It is only possible to do this reliably at scale by investing heavily
in the technologies that power our services - ensuring that we take full advantage
of automation and the elasticity of the cloud to deliver our services consistently to
every client, accurately and on-time, and to spot issues early.

The Platform team owns the technical architecture of OpenGamma’s hosted

services, with responsibility for engineering the product foundations that our
functionality depends on, where security, resiliency and observability really matter.
These core components enable our other development teams to build product
features robustly and in standard ways. The team works closely with our
Operations team, with collective operating responsibility for all of OpenGamma’s
hosted services.

Our technology stack

You will be working with:

● Infrastructure: AWS (especially Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3,

DynamoDB, KMS, AWS Transfer, Cloudformation), Terraform
● Back-end: Java 11, Python 3
● Front-end: Angular 12 (with TypeScript, Material UI and SASS), ngrx/store,
ag-grid, Highcharts
● Operations: Airflow
● Monitoring: Datadog, PagerDuty, Statuspage
● Tools: GitHub, Slack
What we are looking for

● You are a strong technology generalist looking to apply yourself to the

operations of modern, cloud-based hosted services.
● You enjoy challenging the default thinking - using the right tool, language or
service for the job is more important to you than the familiarity of a specific
technology.
● You stay focussed on the business objective and always look to
demonstrate rapid progress towards this.
● You balance medium-term efficiency with short-term productivity: you
prefer to work out root causes and engineer solutions to prevent a problem
from occurring, than repeatedly tackle the same symptoms.
● You are an advocate of cloud-based infrastructure and
infrastructure-as-code.
● You are comfortable with taking a high level problem and defining the
technical implementation to achieve the goals of the requirement.
● You have high attention to detail.

Technical skills

● Computer Science degree or similar from a top university.

● 2+ years’ experience building multi-tenanted systems using AWS or other
cloud providers, including serverless and service-oriented architectures.
● 2+ years’ experience in a language that demands strong object-oriented
analysis and design skills, such as Java, C#, C++, etc.
● Experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, etc.
● Familiarity with modern development and deployment practices, such as
version control, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, approaches to testing.

Benefits package

● Competitive salary, depending on location, skills and experience (all levels

considered).
● Employee stock option scheme.
