Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

It is cute when children dress in Halloween costumes and pretend, but it is sad when adults put on a front for show like in todays Gospel. In our families we must love, affirm and appreciate others for who they are and not for whom we want them to be. Humility and loving attention are the keys. (Insert graphic 1106-0086)
364 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. Is Jesus important enough to you to set aside one special hour each week to be with him? Just one hour, once a week, is all that He is asking. In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success. (Prov. 3:6-10). Please consider becoming a Holy Hour Adorer, for more information contact Judy Soltis at 330-212-0926. HELP FOR OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS HB 136 - We as Catholic citizens are concerned that each community maintains sound and high quality public school for all youth. At the same time, we hold firm to the right to maintain and operate faith-based schools, which prepare our youth with spiritual and moral values that will benefit sound citizenship. HB 136 is legislation which is beneficial for Catholic schools and students because: It creates ways for parents tax dollars to follow the education of their children, regardless of whether they attend public or chartered nonpublic schools; It reaches out to working poor and lower-middle income families; It provides Catholic school families to be phased into the program if their families meet the bills household income levels It complements Ohios other school-choice programs. Go to http://www.ohiocatholicconf.org/l/Legcontact/Legislatorsweb2011.htm to identify the contact information of the legislators to encourage them to pass this important legislation. Catholics across the country will be celebrating Priesthood Sunday today, October 30, 2011. It is a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us when we gather at the Table of the Lord when we call in our times of need. Consider sharing a personal note or card of thanks. Together we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests. May their hearts be open to hearing and responding to Gods call in their lives. More information can be found at clevelandcatholicpreisthood.com. PRE-PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

Chris Silva of Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home will be the guest of Saint Augustine on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. Mr. Silva will talk about options available when planning funerals as well as options regarding funeral liturgies. Increasingly it is becoming apparent that unless pre-planned, funerals do not necessarily go the way the deceased would have wanted. There is absolutely NO obligation involved by attendance. This is meant to serve the parish community. Please tell anyone you know who may be interested about this opportunity.
