Advanced Consulting Skills — Learning Objectives

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

• Exercise and reinforce the effective use of core consulting skills in a


selected number of key areas:
– Work Team design and planning
– Building effective teams
– Interpersonal coaching
– Managing effective meetings
– Communicating and influencing
– Problem solving in teams

• Increased confidence:
– Through understanding the many dimensions of core skill application
– Practising in a safe environment
– Getting incisive feedback on how and what can be done differently

• Increased awareness of the unconscious skills of experienced consultants


so we can teach/coach others.

Faculty Notes

Faculty will impart techniques, behavioral mechanisms and expand your interpersonal
skills toolkit.

In terms of interpersonal skills we will raise awareness of those things that experienced
CGE&Y consultants tend to do habitually, instinctively.

Each core consulting skill has a behavioral change element to it — when working with
clients, joint team members, we need to teach them h2 use core skills, to help them
internalise them for continued use after the CGE&Y project has been completed.

During the project, want to be able to coach JTMs to your mutual advantage. To do so, you
need to gain entry/permission to be able to open an individual’s personal “door”.
