delicious. Is there any way I could get the recipe?
M-Cn Actually our chef, David Wilson, is publishing a cookbook
that'll be out in November. And he's included the recipe for his
chocolate cake. It's a customer favorite.
W-Br Really? That's great. Will the book be sold here?
M-Cn Yes, it will. In fact, if you leave your contact information, i'll
make sure a book is signed by chef David and set aside for you.

Questions 35 through 37 refer to the following conversation.

W-Br OK, sir, here are your purchases. Thanks for shopping
Quality First Foods. Would you like to fill out a short survey over
there at the service desk? Then you’ll receive a free gift card for a
future visit.
M-Cn I would, but the problem is I’m in a rush. I see there’s a
line at the service counter, and I don’t have time to wait.
W-Br That’s OK. You can also fill out the survey online and
submit it electronically. Then we’ll mail the gift card to you.
Questions 38 through 40 refer to the following conversation.
M-Cn What is the street blocked? This is the only street that goes
directly to the airport.
W-Br Oh, I heard the president of China was visiting today.
That's probably why it's closed
M-Cn well, how are we going to get to the airport? We don't want
to miss out flight
W-Br let's ask the police officer standing over there.

Questions 41 through 43 refer to the following conversation.

W-Br Hello, Selwin Office Manufacturers. You’ve reached
customer service. How may I help you today?
M-Au Yes, hello. I recently bought a used Selwin 6 label
maker. The person I got it from no Ionger had the instructions,
though, and I’m not sure how the machine works.
W-Br Unfortunately, that’s an earlier model that we no longer
produce.
M-Au Oh, no. That’s a problem.
W-Br No, it’s OK, because the Selwin 10 has a similar design,
and the instructions should be nearly the same.
M-Au Great! Could you send me the instructions? My address
is…
W-Br Actually, the manual for Selwin 10 is on our Web site. I can
send you the link so you can download it.

Questions 44 through 46 refer to the following conversation.

W-Br Hello this is Carmen in the media research department. How can I help you?
M-Au Hi Carmen, my name is Robert Ito. I'm looking for recent news stories on new product
development in the Japanese auto market. Can you help me find some articles before Friday?
W-Br Sure. A full search should take me only a day or two. I should be able to get you the
information by Thursday. What dates do you want me to look into?
M-Au Any new product articles that were published last January and February. Thanks a lot for
your help.
Questions 47 through 49 refer to the following conversation.
M-Au OK, Ms. Torres, I have your price estimate. To have the
whole exterior of your house painted, including the fence, will
cost you five thousand dollars.
W-Am That’s quite a bit more than we expected. And actually,
Colgate Painting said they would do it for four thousand
dollars…
M-Au Well, the cost of paint and supplies is included in the price
I quoted you, so we really offer a very good deal.
W-Am That’s a bit of a relief. If there are no other charges, we’ll
probably be able to stay within our budget.

Questions 50 through 52 refer to the following conversation with 3

speakers.
W-Am Thabo and Michiko, I need help designing some pamphlets
for our evening business courses. I’d like to have them ready
before the end of April.
W-Br Sure. Should we take a look at the ones from last year or
make them different?
M-Au You know, I think the pamphlets last year had too many
details. People can get dates and times from the Web site.
W-Am I agree. Let’s focus on the skills that people will learn in each class.
M-Au OK. I’ll come up with a rough version of the text for the pamphlet by tomorrow and e-
mail it to you. Then, next week we can start working on the design.

Questions 53 through 55 refer to the following conversation.

M-Au Weren't we supposed to receive a supply of paper for the
printer on Tuesday? We're almost out and I have documents I
need to print.
W-Am The supplier called and said they were a few days behind
making deliveries but we will definitely have our shipment by
Thursday
M-Au Maybe we should look for another supplier
W-Am Well this never happened before besides they offered to
include 3 extra boxes of paper at no additional cost.

Question 56 through 58 refer to the following conversation.

W-Am Good morning, Tom. Have a seat. There's something I'd
like to discuss with you.
M-Au I hope everything's fine. I realize I'm fairly new on the job
and I'm still learning, but I really enjoy working in the
accounting office.
W-Am Yes, I can tell. Your supervisor and I have been very
impressed with how much you've accomplished in just six
months. As a matter of fact, we'd like to give you an opportunity
to move up in your career. We'd like you to help manage the
payroll Department.
Question 59 through 61 refer to the following conversation.
W-Am Mr. Garcia, I see from your resume that you're interested
in a law internship here at Sahotan Partners.
M-Au Yes, I'd like to learn all that I can about working in legal
services. Plus, I'm looking forward to putting the knowledge i've
gained at University to practical use.
W-Am Well, if you're selected, you'll work alongside a mentor on
several large cases. Most interns find the work challenging but
very rewarding.
M-Au That sounds great. I've always admired the work of Sahota
and Partners. In fact, I'd really like to get a fulltime position here
someday. Are interns often hired after completing their
internships?

Question 62 through 64
W-Am How was the meeting?
M-Au Good. We talked about ways to increase sales.
W-Am And? Seems like we’ve tried everything.
M-Au Well, radio advertising’s pretty effective, though I can’t
believe how much they charge! But one guy talked about easy
changes to store layout. They just moved some displays around, and
it really made a difference.
W-Am Hmm. I’ve often thought we should move the shoe
department from the back of the store to the front. So it’s across
from the store entrance.
M-Au And here’s an even better idea! Put the shoes next to the
fitting rooms! If people are trying on clothes in the fitting rooms,
they’ll probably want to get the shoes at the same time.
Questions 65 through 67 refer to the following conversation.
W-Am Thank you for coming in to interview today, Mr. Larson. Can
you tell me why you're interested in the engineering manager's
position here at Gold Star Manufacturing?
M-Au Well, your company is the largest appliance manufacturer in
the region, and I think my experience could be put to good use here.
W-Am I see that you're currently head engineer at Medibox Limited.
Can you talk a little bit about your responsibilities in that role?
M-Au Sure. I've headed the engineering Department for six years. I
oversee all of the department's operations, from research and
development to quality assurance. I have 15 engineers reporting
directly to me.

Questions 68 through 70 refer to to the following conversation and card.

W-Br I hear that we’ve had some unhappy customers recently.
M-Cn Yes, I’m afraid that’s true. In fact, i’ve just been talking with
one of them.
W-Br Oh. Well, uh, what did the customer say? Picked her up on
time, but there was heavy traffic on the way to the airport, and she
nearly missed her flight.
W-Br Mmm. We should probably take a look at roadwork scheduled
in the area. It might be affecting traffic more than we realized.
M-Cn Right. And we have some other issues to consider as well.
Look at the rest of these comments – we’ll need to decide what to do.
Questions 71 through 73
Hi, Wendy. I'm calling about the purchase orders we received
for office furniture. The Accounting Department is going to
need more of everything to accommodate all their new
employees. But luckily, the Human Resources Department just
wants more chairs. They said everything else is okay. Before
you place these orders, though, be sure to check the inventory.
If we're still short, Then we'll order the necessary items. Please
remember that only I, as your manager, can make changes to
orders you've already submitted. So let me know if you spot an
error that needs to be updated. Thanks.

specialist in ways people adapt to their physical environment.
He'll offer our listeners some simple tips on how to deal with
hot weather. For example, wearing loose clothing that doesn't
trap the heat and drinking plenty of water to replace lost

Welcome to this month's all-staff meeting. To begin, I have
some great news. As the editor in chief of Science And You
magazine, I am pleased to announce the finalization of our
company's merger with Stonewell Publishing. This means
many exciting things for us, namely that we can take
advantage of Stonewell's incredible technology department so
we can make the online version of our magazine better. And
why wouldn't we? Our data shows that sixty percent of our
magazine subscribers use their mobile phones to read articles
online. Now, Stonewell has already granted all of us access to
their publications. So, please use some time over the next few
weeks to familiarize yourselves with their Web sites.
Questions 83 through 85 refer to the following broadcast.

to our discussion of what to do when buying a car, with our guest,
Nina Robinson.

Hello everyone.Welcome to the architecture conference at the

surrounding forests and rivers that the region is famous for. We're very happy to host your group
of international architects. I'm sure you'll have many questions about the efficiency and cost of
the materials we've used and why you should consider using them in your own building designs.

Question 92 through 94 refer to the following phone message.

Hi Susan, this is Mike calling from Atlantic Publishers. I know
you're in Miami on vacation, but I'm calling regarding your
manuscript. Before you left for this trip, I think you sent us the
wrong version of your book by mistake. I began to make changes
and then I realized that this was the old version. I need your final
manuscript as soon as possible so that I can review it and send it
to the printing company. They are still hoping to print it by the
end of next month. I'll be in Houston on business for a few days,
but you can reach me on my cell phone. Have a good vacation,
Susan, and i'll talk to you soon.

Questions 95 through 97
W-Am: Hello, this is Ellen calling from Pennington
Technology. I wanted to follow up with you about the catering
order form that I e-mailed you last week. (95) lt’s for the board
meeting our company’s holding tomorrow. (96) l’d like to
double the number of beverages, since it’ll be a long meeting
and people might get thirsty. Also, (97) l wanted to let you
know that when you arrive at our company’s office, you’ll have
to check in at the
security desk to
pick up a visitor’s badge. I’ve already let the security guard know, so there should be a badge
ready for you.

Questions 98 through 100 refer to the following excerpt from a meeting and sales graph.
I have one final issue to discuss at today's staff meeting. I just
handed out a graph summarizing our shoe store's annual sales
data. And, well... I think this information is particularly
interesting since we relocated to a different neighborhood this
year. As you might have expected, the relocation decreased
our sales significantly at first. During the quarter we moved,
we experienced the lowest shoe sales of the entire year. That
was largely because people in the new neighborhood didn't
know about us. However, thanks to the newspaper
advertisements and radio commercials we put out, business
picked up
quickly, and we
ended the year
by making a
record number
of sales.
