SCIENCE

It is a systematic body of knowledge based on facts and experimentation.

Pattern to follow or logical pattern

ARISTOTLE Greek philosopher

Humans want to know the truth
Curious about our environment

IT IS CONSIST OF TWO PARTS: SCIENCE

1.) SCIENTIFIC PROCESS OR SCIENTIFIC METHOD- Logical and orderly procedure
2.) SCIENTIFIC METHODS OF INQUIRY

TEST TUBE

1.) OBSERVATION- You are going to use your 5 senses

2.) IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
3.) HYPOTHESIS- This is an educated guess.
4.) Experimentation
5.) THEORY- This does not give an ultimate answer to a question.
6.) LAW

SCIENTIFIC ATTITUDE refers to a set of characteristics and dispositions that scientists cultivate in their approach
to inquiry, problem-solving, and knowledge acquisition. It embodies the values, methods, and mindset that underpin
scientific thinking.

1.) CURIOSITY
2.) OPEN MINDEDNESS
3.) Patience
4.) Determination- We aim to a common goal. To attain the answer
5.) Team work- Working together towards a common objective.
6.) Objectivity-
7.) Critical Thinker

ENVIRONEMNTAL SCIENCE

There are key approaches in environmental science

1.) INTERDOSIPLINARY APPROACH- principles and methodologies from multiple scientific disciplines to
understand complex environmental issues.

2. ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM- interactions between living organisms, ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, and
physical factors such as climate, geology, and hydrology.

3. HUMAN IMPACTS investigates the ways in which human activities impact the environment, including pollution,
deforestation, habitat destruction, climate change, and resource depletion.
4. SUSTAINABILITY- emphasizing the need to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the
ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

5. CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION- efforts to conserve and restore natural ecosystems and biodiversity.

6. POLICY AND MANAGEMENT

Environmental science informs policy-making and management decisions related to environmental issues. Environmental
scientists provide scientific data and analysis to policymakers, stakeholders, and the public, helping to inform environmental
regulations, land-use planning, and resource management strategies.

7. GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE-

addresses environmental challenges at local, regional, and global scales. Issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and
pollution transcend national borders and require international cooperation and collaboration to address effectively.

8.) PUBLIC AWARENESS AND EDUCATION-

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
1.) Clean Water
2.) Food Supplies
3.) Energy Resource
Renewable
Non renwable
4.) Climate Change
5.) Air Quality
6.) BIODIVERSITY LOSS
refers to the decline in the variety and abundance of plant and animal species in a particular habitat, region, or globally.
7.) Marines Resources
8.) Population and Pollution
9.) Health
