A 2-Player Superhero Romance Game
Choose a name, hero name, pronouns, powers, and basic
description for your characters. Then, answer the following
questions together:
How long have you been crime-fighting together?
What is your mission?
Where do you operate? What sort of base of operations do
you have?
What brought you together?
Why (besides mutual pining) do you stay together?

You will need two players, a copy of this game, something to
write with, and a 12-sided die.
The player who most recently read or watched a romance
rolls first.
Roll 1d12 to generate a scene from the prompt list. If you
have rolled a prompt you’ve already used, you may choose to
re-roll.
Discuss the prompt and play out the scene together. If any
other characters become necessary, decide how you want to
narrate or play them.
When a scene ends, decide how you think your character
acted in the scene. Some scenes will ask this of both players.
If you showed affection to your partner or allowed your
actions to be directed by your feelings for them, mark a
pip on the longing side.
If you deny your feelings to focus on your mission, mark
a pip on the duty side.
Continue taking turns to roll for scenes. When one of you
reaches a point where you would mark a pip on either side
and can’t, or when you feel you’ve reached a good stopping
point regardless, proceed to the corresponding final scene.

3. The two of you are training together. How does the sparring
go? Are you friendly and maybe flirty, or are you all business?
[Both players mark their tracks]
4. You’re both back at your base of operations, one patching
the other up after a difficult night. What do you say to each
other? [Both players mark their tracks]
5. Your partner has become trapped due to falling debris. How
are you trying to help them? Are you obviously panicked?
[Player who rolled marks their track]
6. An enemy is controlling your partner. What do you say or do
to try to reach them and snap them out of it? [Player who
rolled marks their track]
7. It’s a quiet night and the two of you are watching your
territory from a rooftop. How do you pass the time? [Both
players mark their tracks]
8. You’re both at your base of operations, enjoying some
downtime. Are you doing something together or occupying
yourselves? [Both players mark their tracks]
9. Team up time! The hero you’re working with expresses
concerns about your partner to you in private, either out of
mistrust or underestimation. How do you respond? [Player
who rolled marks their track]
10. The two of you encounter each other in your civilian
identities. Do you already know each other’s secret identities?
How do you interact? [Both players mark their track]
11. Someone attempts to goad you during a fight with personal
jabs and assumptions about your relationship. Do they get a
rise out of you? [Player who rolled marks their track]
12. Your partner has been captured! Where and how are they
being held? What lengths will you go to in order to rescue
them? [Player who rolled marks their track]
If you have filled up your longing track, you can’t hold
yourself back anymore. You confess your feelings to your
partner. How do they react? Where do the two of you go
from here?
If you have filled up your duty track, you are determined
to do whatever you have to in order to get over this crush
for the good of your mission. What do you do? How does
it change your relationship with your partner? Is there still
hope for the two of you to come together in the future?
If you end without either track being filled, the two of you
are still dancing around each other. Do you ever confess
your feelings? What would it take to get you there?
