Perform software download with auto-pilot system (APS) of 3rd generation with software status Q4.

1. Remove navigation CD and insert download CD into CD drive.

2. Switch off control module.
3. Switch on unit after a waiting time of at least 5 seconds by simultaneously pressing SC and FM/AM
buttons. The menu "SW download for CD" appears with menu points "Interrupt", "Start control module"
and, when Telematic box (TMC box) is connected, "Start TMC box". Select "Start control module" or
"Start TMC box" with right knob. The date or the version of the software currently loaded and the
software on the CD appear on the display.
4. Start the download operation by pressing the right knob. During downloading progress is indicated by a
beam diagram. Simultaneously the code LED flashes on the download control module. An error is
indicated by a dot code on the display. The download starts again.
5. When the download is completed (15 minutes) the display switches off for a short time. When switched
on again the download result is indicated.

Do not start vehicle during download, do not cause other voltage drops in the vehicle electrical
system (e.g. switching on other equipment), do not remove CD and do not switch off unit! (Unit will
be destroyed!).

Retrofitting traffic data memory - AN82.61-P-1000-04C

Model 170

1. Align traffic data memory (A2/43) next to APS navigation processor (A2/30) as shown in figure. Mark
hole pattern for mounting arms, drill 3 mm dia. mounting holes. Fasten traffic data memory with 3
commercially available sheet metal screws

Screw in sheet metal screws with sealing agent.

2. If installed on trunk floor cut out trunk paneling.

3. Depending on installation location protect traffic data memory (A2/43) against damage with plastic or
sheet metal cover (shop-made) (for example, cut out styrofoam cube (dotted line) and place over traffic
data memory).
