Discussion
Tourism is a crucial industry that plays a
significant role in the economic development of
many countries. It creates job opportunities,
generates foreign exchange earnings, and
promotes cultural exchange among different
nations. In recent years, there has been a
significant shift in the traditional tourist interest,
and tourists are now seeking new and unexplored
destinations to visit. Bangladesh is a country that
holds immense potential for tourism, with its
beautiful landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and
warm hospitality of its people. The country has a
diverse range of tourist attractions, including the
world's largest delta, Cox's Bazar - the longest sea
beach, numerous ancient archaeological sites, tea
gardens, and wildlife sanctuaries.
Recognizing the potential of the tourism industry,
the Government of Bangladesh declared 2011 as
the year of tourism to promote the country's
tourist resources and attract more tourists. The
objective was to create awareness among the
people about the country's tourist attractions,
develop infrastructure, and improve services to
enhance the quality of tourism in the country. The
government has taken several initiatives to
develop the tourism industry in the country. These
include the development of new tourist
destinations, construction of highways and
bridges to improve transportation, and the
establishment of new hotels and resorts to provide
comfortable accommodation to tourists. The
government has also launched a visa-on-arrival
program for tourists from selected countries to
make it easier for them to visit Bangladesh.
Furthermore, the government has also emphasized
the importance of preserving the country's cultural
heritage and natural resources while promoting
tourism. It has implemented strict regulations to
protect historical sites, wildlife sanctuaries, and
forests. The government has also encouraged the

new job opportunities for the huge unemployed

The aim of the research is to identify the
challenges that the sector of tourism is
facing currently and to asses the future as
well. Tourism of Bangladesh has not
flourished yet due to the unwillingness of
the previous government. MoCAT has the
highest allocation of Tk. 2.83 billion
since the independence of the country in
1971. PPP is also working efficiently for
fostering the growth of tourism with the
financing from MNCs.Bangladesh as a
tourist destination has many things to
offer: beaches, hillside, forests, waterfall,
historical and archeological sites,
amusement parks and many more. The
country is now on the track to enrich the
tourism sector like the other nations for a
better contribution on the GDP. The lack
of world-class accommodation near all
places of interests is now under
construction which may result into more
tourist arrival in the country.
