3. A case study of the effects of using Lumio :
Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University conducted a study to try and
understand the differences between using Lumio and more conventional methods.
They devised an algorithm of EFL vocabulary learning via Smart Lumio Resources.
 The experiment deduced that students using Lumio had a passing rate of 90%
compared to 70% in written tests for those using more conventional methods.
Although when it came to the speaking test the results were a lot closer with Lumio
students having a better grasp over the vocabulary studied.
Following a questionnaire, it was found that students using Lumio were quite satisfied
with it finding it especially useful for introducing new vocabulary, practicing new
topic-related collocations in vocabulary exercises and speaking. And most students
also said that they would like to continue their work with Lumio in distance learning
and in the classroom.

4. the limitations of Lumio:

Lumio requires each student to have their own smart device, and for the best results it
is also recommended to use an interactive board, add to this the price of the
subscription itself and the cost of running this suite can prove to be quite costly,
making it unattainable to most schools around the world, apart from the more affluent
ones.

The smart learning suite or Lumio is great tool to transform lessons into a highly
interactive activity, that allows students to treat learning as more than just a mundane
task but more of a rich and fun experience, and with the usage of interactive boards
teachers can really bring their subjects to life, as well as easily and quickly customize
their lessons depending on the needs of their students, and with rapid spread of smart
devices I see it becoming an indispensable tool in the teaching industry.
