LOG

Topic
I. OBJECTIVES
The learner demonstrates key concepts of linear inequalities in two variables, systems
A. Content Standards
of linear inequalities in two variables and linear functions.
The learner is able to formulate and solve accurately real-life problems involving linear
B. Performance Standards inequalities in two variables, systems of linear inequalities in two variables, and linear
functions.
C. Learning Competencies / (M8AL-IIc-1)
Objectives
a. Illustrates a relation and a function.
b. Verify if a given relation is a function
c. Relate functions to real-life situations.
II. CONTENT Illustration and Verification of Relations and Functions
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Materials pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR)
portal
B. Other Learning Resources
IV. PROCEDURES
A.Reviewing previous lessons or ACTIVITY 1 : “ Pair Me Up”
presenting the new lesson. Instructions:
Match the pictures on the left (column A) to the pictures on the right (column B) if they
have connection/related.
If you already know the answer, immediately stand and say, “nakakarelate ako!”

A B

1. a.

2. b.

3. c.
4. d.

5. e.

B. Establishing a purpose for the ACTIVITY 2 (Group Activity) : “Find Me”

lesson. (After 10 mins, each group will represent the relations in different ways.)
C. Presenting examples/ instances 1. How did you make a set of ordered pairs?
of the lesson 2. How many elements are there in the set of ordered pairs you have made?
3. What elements belong to the first set? Second set?
4. Is there a repetition of the first coordinates? How about the second coordinates?
5. Does the set of ordered pairs represent a relation?
6. How is a relation represented?

D. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills #1
E. Discussing new concepts and Relations can be represented in a number of ways:
practicing new skills #2 1. Table of Values
2. Mapping Diagram
3. Graphs

TYPES OF RELATION
F. Developing Mastery (leads to ACTIVITY 3: “STATUE-DANCE”
Formative Assessment) Instructions: Everyone will make a big circle. Pass the box to the right while the music
is on. If the music stops, the last student holding the box will pic a number and answer
the question. The students who cannot answer correctly will dance at the center of the
circle.

Direction: Identify if FUNCTION or NOT FUNCTION. Give the reason for your answer.

G. Finding Practical application of

concepts and skills in daily
living

Questions:
1. How much will you earn if you work 4 hours a day? How about 5 hours? 6 hours? 7
hours? Or 8 hours?
2. Express each as an ordered pair.
H. Making generalizations and What is a relation?
Abstraction about the lesson - A relation is any set of ordered pairs.
How can we identify if relation is a function?
- A relation is function if there is no repeated element in the first element (domain)
of the ordered pairs.

Note that all functions are relations but some relations are not functions.

I.Evaluating learning

J. Additional Activities for Give a real-life situation that can be an example of function. Select any of the methods
Application of Remediation to represent it.
V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned
80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did this work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to
share with other teachers?
